Backlight hair shaders - how to use?

Hey everyone! Since you have all been a great help for daz newbs like me I came to bother you once again ^^ https://www.daz3d.com/backlight--hair-shaders-for-iray- I think I have some idea of how this product works but can you please explain it? I'm still trying to decipher stuff in daz and lighting is one of them. Any help is really appreciated! :)

    Select the hair you like, go to the surface tab and select the surface you like such as hair or hair cap, double click on the shader, and voila.  The difference between a material and a shader is the shader requires a surface to be selected like "bangs", while a material preset applies a series of shaders to various predetermined surfaces and doesn't require a trip to the surface tab.

    I see... And what is the difference between the hair and hair cap in surfaces? :)

    Think of the cap as a flesh colored skull cap. The hair is attached to the cap.
