Hylas' Freebies

HylasHylas Posts: 4,989

I'm deeply appreciative of everyone who makes freebies and I've decided to start uploading some of my own.

Now, I can't model. I'd like to learn eventually, but it might be months or even years until I get there (my life is very busy).

But I do make shader presets, morph presets, textures, HDRI's, poses, and such. I make them for myself but I might as well upload them, if I have all the required rights.

Please enjoy. Constructive feedback is very welcome, I'm absolutely no expert and I'd like to learn!

Universal IRAY Hair Shader - Allessa

Required product: Mane Concern: Allessa Hair by DAZ Originals (currently a freebie!)
(Allessa Hair itself is not required, only the Mane Concern add-on.)

Universal IRAY Hair Shader - Allessa is a set of shader presets that make the colours of Mane Concern: Allessa Hair compatible with any hair that uses vertical texture maps. Enjoy 33 new hair colours, both natural and fantastical.

(The hair in the "promos" is Bronwyn Hair.)

I hope I packaged this correctly.
If not then I'd appreciate some help!

Hey, Hylas. Packaging looks good to me. Windows users may wish to extract the contents of the .zip and remove the MacOS folder and all the .store thumbnails prior to moving the rest to their content library, though.

Here are a couple of quick renders using your shaders, but converted to 3Delight using RSSY's Iray to 3DL converter. It was a one-click solution, but of course I could have done some additional tweaking if I had wanted. The first image is using Dream Hair for G2F to try the shaders out, but I already have a range of hair colour options for that particular hair, so the second image uses Flirty Hair that only comes with blonde, brunette and auburn maps, where the variety that comes with using the Main Concern Alessa maps offers the greatest mileage. In both cases I simply applied a hair colour from the original to get a reasonable match for the hair cap to go with the Alessa colour I chose, then applied your shaders to the rest of the material zones and converted them to 3Delight as described.

Thank you for your efforts in compiling them, Hylas!

Wipe away your Tears for G8M

This is a simple opacity map I created to make it look like your G8M had been crying.
    Have fun!

    Instructions:

    1. Create a geoshell around your G8M.

    2. Select the geoshell. Set the Cutout Opacity to 0 for all its surfaces except for the surface Face.

    3. Apply a water shader to the surface Face.

    4. Apply the opacity map to Cutout Opacity of the surface Face.

    Real G8Ms don't cry. (I can say that. I'm a boomer)

  • Yes men cry ... not a sound anybody ever wants to hear but hay, they are people too.

    Thank you @ Hylas

Something I've noticed of late in a number of people too is a particular 'hard' look they are getting in their eyes. The frontline workers.

Ofcourse real men cry...  Joe Jackson - Real Men (℗ 1982) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTBe_fYtpcQ

This looks very good Hylas! Perhaps a little bit too shiny but that can be fixed. ;)

Also love your Universal IRAY Hair Shader - Allessa! Very useful, here's a test render I did...

Photoshop Action: Adjust Nipple for F4

Required products: The Freak 4, Adobe Photoshop

The Freak 4's left nipple is misaligned! laugh

Here's a Photoshop Action that will align his left nipple correctly. Use it on his torso maps.

This is the first time I'm sharing a Photoshop Action, so please let me know whether it works for you, and what version of PS you're using. Thanks!

Off topic, that’s a shockingly popular song title for Japanese rock bands, and not a single one that I’ve heard was a Cure cover.

    Big Lug for G8M

Required Products: G8M Head Morphs, G8M Body Morphs

A user contacted me about an old characer I used. He happens to be a dial spun character than only uses the basic G8M head and body morphs and I'm happy to share his presets.

Heads up, I'm converting Fairy Hair Shaders and Fairy Hair Shaders 2 to IRAY, like I did with Mane Concern: Allessa before.

If you plan on taking advantage of that upcoming freebie best purchase these products while they're free, they will be required!

I plan on releasing the freebie today or tomorrow, but no promises.

So, this took a little longer than expected. But finally...

Universal IRAY Hair Shader - Fairy

Required products: Fairy Hair Shaders for DAZ Studio & Fairy Hair Shaders 2 - Vertical for DAZ Studio

Universal IRAY Hair Shader - Fairy is a set of shader presets that make the colours of Fairy Hair Shaders and Fairy Hair Shaders 2 - Vertical compatible with any hair that uses vertical texture maps. Enjoy 104 new multihued hair colours!

(I find that the shader doesn't always look good on some older polygonal hairs (Genesis 2 and older) that use simple geometry. Trial and error is your friend!)

    Pro Wrestling HDRI

I couldn't really find a good lighting option for my wrestling scenes so I made an HDRI myself.

The HDRI is meant for lighting only, it's not meant to be used as a visible background.
(The visible background in the above render is just a flat image in "Environment")

It came out a little bright so it's best used with lowered intensity. Try 0.3 or 0.4.

The HDRI is based on a freebie by Greg Zaal, available on HDRI Haven: https://hdrihaven.com/hdri/?c=studio&h=studio_small_02
(Their License allows for remixing and redistribution.)

    Feedback is welcome.
    Have fun!

BTW, Hylas, the character that you use in the hair shader pics has a distinct Lea Thompson vibe, IMO.

I'm not really seeing it... but in any case, it's Vivy.
