render setup for 2 gtx 1070

Hi,

I have 2 gtx 1070 with sli bridge and an i9.

I read somewhere sli bridge is not necessary for rendering.

Is it right? Should it be removed?

Does a cpu (slow compared to gpus) hinder the gpus work and should be disabled?

  • You don't need sli. You don't need to remove it. just turn it off.

  • SLI isn't used for rendering, and should be disabled in the nVidia Control Panel for DS (assuming you want the physical link for other things).

    thank you.

  • It probably depends on the exact system, but I thinkmost people who have tested have found that trying to have the CPU both manage  the GPU and also render itself makes he process slower than using the GPU alone.

  • I think the only examples where it didn't was people with threadrippers with very large numbers of threads.
