I had such a blow today seeing the punch-worthy MM product, "Europe for Gen2F": http://www.daz3d.com/march-madness/europe-for-genesis-2-female-s. A quote from the promo:
"The set is focused on delivering some strong features and a touch of natural quirkiness to the Genesis 2 Female(s)."
Well, if it was meant to deliver quirks, it definitely hit the bull's eye. I'm particularly concerned with Eva preset: http://www.daz3d.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/e/u/europepopup02.jpg.
Firstly, the morph doesn't even bear the slightest resemblance to the Poles I see on the streets. In fact, teenage boys look similar, but not the girls. Lastly - which is a pun, I think - all the names of the presets are believable except for Eva. It is not a Polish name.
And here comes a conclusion: the preset may be mixed up with another nationality. Such things happen. What makes me doubt it is the fact that the flag is correct, it's only the rest that doesn't match.
Can somebody contact the vendor to make him or her check if the promo is correct please?

Hello, well I'm the vendor of this product,
Nope I'm afraid you will be shocked to learn that, that particular morph is presented correctly and is in fact modelled on a real polish woman, whom I know personally, she might be slightly offended when I tell her that her 3d counterpart has been reported as neither looking polish or female!, I'm not sure weather her anger would be directed at you or me though ;)
Her birth name is actually Ewa, but I renamed it Eva with 'V' for this predominantly non-Polish speaking audience.
Anyway, it is not so simple to define who does or doesn't look Polish since we are all unique. She doesn't represents all Poles or even the specific Poles you see in your area as this would be virtually impossible. she is only 'a pole'. Sorry if her looks are not to your taste, If you have purchased the set and feel the product has let you down you can obtain a refund via Daz, unfortunately there is not much else I can do on this one.
My great grandparents came here from Poland and had 13 children, one named Eva (known as Aunt Eve to me.) The facial features I see in the product I saw in my great aunts, to some degree. That's all you can ask - everyone is unique.
Thank you Dogz. It looks good to me. I will purchase it later today.
Great response Dogz, I knew someone would have something to say considering the nature of the product (and my time in the DAZ forums, LOL)
I like the product and feel there are some great facial features included, I especially like Sofia and Inga. Thanks again.
Greetings,
Heh; I have to admit, I'm wanting you to do one for G2M, just to see if mixing German and Italian come together anything close to my ugly mug. ;)
This is a cool set of morphs, and a great idea, even if not everybody's going to see themselves in their respective nationalities.

Count me in for a G2M version as well.
Dogz, tell Ewa she's not alone. I live in Chicago and many of the local Poles swear that I don't look even a little Polish while others immediately begin speaking to me in Polish because to them there can be no doubt as to my ethnic origins. My family in Kraków will undoubetedly back the second group. :)
My father was born in what was southeastern Poland before World War II (western Ukraine now). We have features that are clearly Polish but also some features that are more commonly associated with Ukrainians.
When you look at the history of Poland, its ever shifting borders, and its disappearance and reappearance on the world map, it's obvious that there must have been a lot of "mixing" with the neighbors. :) I'd be curious to know what region of Poland the real world Ewa (or her family) is from.
The Dutch girl looks Irish. There is no such girl in our country looking like that
We have Tall Blondes with long faces
one of my Daughters in law is Dutch, dark haired and slightly round faced, My Irish daughter in law is blonde, and my elder son's second partner, also Irish, is very much like Teagan.
I've worked with people from all over Europe (plus the States, Australia, etc), everyone of them could have passed for a Brit, ditto on the friends. The tall willowy blonde? French. The petite redhead? Danish. The elderly British lady next door? Actually German. The short brooding darkish guy? Italian, when he's not the one who's Spanish, or British. The classic British academic? Welsh, with a touch of Ethiopian (or Somali, I forget). A friend says his son comes speeding into the biergartens in the summer and everyone smiles at such a strapping specimen of blonde German youth, then he starts speaking English....
Europe is such a melting pot! We're all different, and we're all alike. Cherish that.
Well.... the set is what it is.
Obviously choosing 'nationalities' as theme for a morph set seems to be a bit controversial, as it falls in to an inevitable trap of not living up to everyone's expectations of what a person from a specific country should or should not look like.
The most obvious solution for me would be to simply 'not revisit that theme' next time. although there may not be a next time in a hurry - morphs was a bit of a departure for me, but I'm most likely going to be refocusing on clothing and props for the rest of the year. (probably because prospect of creating character Mats & matching up all those UV seams scares the living bejesus out of me) :P
Thanks for all the above feed back peeps ^ :)
