Can you post a render? It's likely that whatever is causing the issue on your end won't exist in anyone else's library, so the DUF file may not tell us much.

  • no matter wich g8m I try to use, it ends up looking something like this...

currently, I use 4.12.1.55, but it started when I switched to  4.12.xx

That definitely looks like morphs saved with a non-zero default value.

Is the .duf you added supposed to be base G8M? Because I see a lot of morphs used in there...

  • ... and I tried zeroing everything in "currently used"...and ended up with this....

Yes, this only happens with g8m all g8f,  g2 and g3 are fine.

      New problem, in g8f [only]

when using fit control, I get the popup acknowleging  fit control, then DAZ crashes...

You had hidden properties enabled when looking at Currently used?

Another way to identify that ... creature, that has taken over your G8M:

Or do you remember which characters you installed after the last time your G8M loaded fine?

Looks like Necro Cephaloid, in which case this thread might help: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/5256101/#Comment_5256101

Yeah, you need to go into data\Daz 3D\Genesis 8\Male\Morphs\Joequick\Necro\ and open FBM_Necromorph.dsf with text editor. Go the the line under Channel that says "value" : 1, and change the 1 to 0  Be sure to save the change, then it will load correctly.

That was an error in the initial release of the character. The package has since been updated.

That's it,  all fixed, thank you!  Never had a problem before with 4.10    all started when I went to 4.12.....

That problem has nothing to do with the DS version, it's linked to the character being saved with the wrong parameters. You simply must have installed that character at the same time you updated DS.

Yeah, it's one of the more common issues that makes it past QA. These ones are sometimes really hard to track down too, it's easier to find when it's a more obvious morph like a monster. If it's a human character, it can be really hard to track down the issue. If the defaut is one, it doesn't seem to show up in the show currently used filter. I try to test to make sure after every character I install, so I know exactly which one caused the issue, but sometimes I forget lol.
