How do I make it so my distant light only functions when not rendering?
How do I make it so my distant light only functions when not rendering? I have a distant light I use when setting up poses, but when I do an actual render I want the distant light to turn off. I don't want to have to constantly set visibility to Off before a render.
EDIT
I found a script that allows you to increase the strength of the headlamp: https://sites.google.com/site/millighostmix/home/adjust_headlight. Now I don't need the distant lights to light the scene properly while setting things up, since I primarily use HDRI during renders. I can use headlamp while working to set up poses, cahracters, etc. Under Render Settings for Iray, ensure the Auto Headlamp is set to never, so it never attempts to light a scene using the headlamp. Headlamp is only for setting up the scene.
Comments
If you have the default key maps, Ctrl-L will also turn on OpenGL lighting in the viewport for situations when you don't have any spotlights in the scene.
Thanks, that helps even more so.
Just to confirm, there is no way to set a Distant Light to only light the scene during setup, but not to kick in during Iray renders right?
Distant Light Settings
- [Turn Off During IRAY Renders]
Is there a setting like that?
Not that I am aware of, Visible in Render affects the viewport too
How about select the distant light and turning photometric mode off? It shoudl still illuminate the viewport butnot be used by Iray in actual render.
