Using the search tool in Daz....?

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

Before I updated to 4.6 pro, I was able to use the search function to find any files I wanted even if they didn't originally show up in smart content.
For instance if I typed V4 in the search function of "content library" it would then find all V4-related files for me. likewise if I simply just typed things like "pants" "shirt", etc.

that was one of the things I liked about Daz over programs like poser, because it saved me so much time having to look though all of my folders and files (because I literally had over 1000 files amassed from decades of poser/daz file collecting from all over the internet.

and now I find that I can't do that in 4.6 pro?? What gives? Is there any way that I can get that to work again for me or do I have to go back to the older version?

The same functionality exists in the latest version too.

It sounds like your CMS is not running, and the search function relies on that. If CMS is not running, you will not have any Smart Content either, or Products and Categories.

Are you on Windows or Mac?

    I work solely on windows.
And I installed in the same folder that my older Daz was in, so it should be working? So how do I get the CMS to work.

First of all, look in the Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and look in Processes (Show Processes from All Users) and look for
ContentManagementServer.exe or look in Services for DAZContentManagementService and dit should say 'Running' besideit.

If it is not running, then go to Start > All Programs > DAZ 3D and start CMS from there, that should bring everything back.

Two common possibilities...the database is corrupted or something is blocking it.

In Studio go to Help > Troubleshooting > View Log and clear the log file., save it, then restart Studio. Then look at the log file for any errors at during the start.

Then go to the folder where the CMS is installed. In there will be another folder named Vlogs. Clear it out or find the most recent one and post the contents of it...they are usually pretty small files.

Please have a look at this article which explains about CMS

    https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/entries/22523891-Trouble-shooting-the-Smart-Content-Pane

You may be able to get it to works again by uninstalling CMS from the Start menu, and reinstalling DAZ Studio, you could try that first?

The Jimmy addict or the mjc addict

Addict is their status on the forum, not their username, as you your status is New Member, but will change to just Member when you have made 4 or 5 more posts.

    Opps, I meant Jimmy... I'm just too used to other forums where they have the username right over the avatar. ^^;;
