.DAZ files

Going through my DAZ format directory I came across a folder that has several shaders with ".daz" extensions. Being ever curious, I opened one in "Notepad ++" and found that the file was compressed. So, I then used the "Batch Converter" to uncompress it, but couldn't. Failing that, I then tried the Script IDE utility, but it didn't recognize the file extension (.daz) so same net result. Does anyone know how to open and read a .daz file?

.daz are not compressed text files, they're binary files. You can't read them as a text file like you can for a .duf or for poser files, or edit them outside DS.
They wouldn't be shaders per se as they are the old scene file format - they might be objects saved with a custm shader applied.
