3. Base figures (All Gen 2,3,4, and Genesis 1,2,3) as well as their general morphs packs (Morphs++ and similar) do not count as a purchased item or a freebie and may be used as needed

The Victoria 4.2 and Michael 4 Shapes++ (Head and Body Morphs++) have been freebies occasionally, as well as the Victoria 4.2 and Michael 4 Creature Creator Morphs but I'm not sure whether they (the C.C.M.) fall under 'similar'. I also own the Genesis Evolution: Head Morphs and the Genesis Evolution: Body Morphs but they came with the Michael 5 Pro Suite so they are purchased. What I am saying is that none of the Head or Body Morph packages for Genesis, Genesis 2, Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 has ever been a freebie and therefor I think it's very strange that they do not count as purchased. @Saphirewild, can you please clarify on this?

The rules as of jan 2017 rule 3 says:

This was a heavily requested rules change because these morphs are basically required to really get much use out of the base figures, and they are often required for many paid for or even freebie character packages to work.

According to rule 3, at least some morphs are no counts rather than purchased, which is where the current confusion lies:

Shapes++ is mentioned specifically, as well as "general morph packs".

My understanding is that following items count as "general morph packs" and are no counts:

M4 Shapes++, V4 Shapes++
Genesis Evolution Body, Genesis Evolution Head
G2M Body, G2M Head, G2F Body, G2F Head
G3M Body, G3M Head, G3F Body, G3F Head
G8M Body, G8M Head, G8F Body, G8F Head

(I'm not familiar with pre Gen4 products)

There are plenty of freebie character packages that don't need those (purchased/paid-for) morphs. And if you use a purchased/paid-for character package that requires these (purchased/paid-for) morphs than those morphs should be listed as Purchased/Paid-For as well and not as No-Count items! (In my humble opinion that is, but I think it does make sense...)

What's meant by "similar morph packages" is the Evolution morph packs.Those are the Genesis line (Genesis-Genesis 8)  equivalents of the Morphs ++ of the Gen 4 figures. The Evolution morph packs each  provide the same basic types of morphs for the various Genesis generations, that the Morphs ++ packages provided for Gen 4 figures (Victoria4, Michael 4, etc). They just used the term "Evolution Morphs" instead of "Morphs ++". Functionally, they're the same thing. Morphs ++, and Evolution morphs are what rule three covers.

Peronally, if the Genesis 1, 3, and 8 head and body morphs that Hylas linked to aren't considered 'similar' to these, then I think the dictionary definition of 'similar' needs changing*.

The Genesis Evolution Head and Body Morphs packs are the general morph packs for Genesis, and the general morphs packs for later figures are just called the "Head and Body Morphs" for each respective figure (Genesis 2 M/F, Genesis3 M/F, Genesis 8 M/F). Each set of morphs packs  (Morphs ++, Genesis Evolution Head and Body, Genesis 2 M/F Head and Body, Genesis3 M/F Head and Body, Genesis 8 M/F Head and Body)  are the respective "general morph packs" for that figure. 

I was personally involved in the original discussion that resulted in that rules change. In fact, it was one of my specfic suggestions to the new rules. The other being an increase in the maximum Paid-for items from 3 to 5.

This is also my interpretation of rule 3.

I'll continue to run with it then, barring word from "above" saying otherwise.

No, because, as I said, the general morph packages are pretty much essential for being able to make full use of the figures and really be able to customize their shapes.

As for why I wanted the Paid for items increased was because, particularly when dealing with multiple characters, particularly ones with very specific "signature looks" that require certain content, such as the ones I use, There isn't always a freebie substitute for a given piece of needed content, particularly when talking about specific styles of  hair, characters and skin textures of different ethnic groups (particularly Asian), or certain types of clothing. All but one of my female characters requires a paid for hair. One of my male and one of my female characters each characters requires a particular paid for character package for their shape, and/or textures, and one of my cfemale characters requires a particular set of clothes for her "signature look" that are not available as freebies, neither is another one of the outfits I often dress her in. Also, the male in question, when dressed in his "signature costume", requires a specific paid for outift as part of that costume (the rest of it being custom made). In fact, every one of my various characters requires at least one piece of paid for content, if not two, and usually not the same ones between them. There were many times I wasn't able to create the scene I wanted, or use all of the characters I wanted because they required too many paid for items to meet the old limt.In fact, it was getting difficult to even use just these two specific characters together because of that limit. 

This wa also a problem I was seeing among other participants. People were struggling to keep under the old 3 Paid for Item limit, often having to abandon ideas, or limiting myself to only one character, because it was impossible to meet the limit. 

Not only tjhat, but there are a lot of freebies out there which are dependent upon a given paid for item, such as freebie texture sets for Paid for hair and clothing.

So, no, it wasn't about wanting to showcase more paid for content. It was wanting to be able to use my characters as they were designed, and together. And it was to allow others to be able to do the same.

I think it states it very clearly in the rules on what is "No Count" and what is "Paid" items and the powers that be told me that this is my challenge and my rules and Tramp Graphics statement is so true because we had discused this back 3 years ago when I first started my hosting of the freebie challenge also I agreed with Tramp Graphics so I did change that rule.

Thought I'd drop in just to see how things were going this month.  I had too many real life challenges to enter this month.

@JackyBrown, so true!!  I love the render and the message behind it.

Sorry about the out of memory error with the computer... been there!  The first time that happened to me, I thought I was being attacked by a virus... yup, was I a noob! 

Even now if I just add one extra prop, my poor laptop whines and complains then just pretends I'm not here!
