Need Help Moving User-created Smart Content/Metadata btwn Computers
![LaPartita](https://farnsworth-prod.uc.r.appspot.com/forums/uploads/userpics/791/nN38W3H0X6GLD.jpg)
I have Daz installed on two different computers. On my older computer, my content has been installed through the DIM. On the newer computer, I’ve been installing my content using Connect.
I’ve created a bunch of metadata on the older, DIM-installed computer, and I’ve been trying to copy it over to the newer Connect-installed computer. No matter what I do, though, I can’t seem to get it to work!!
Can anyone help me, please???

Have you exported emtadata on the old machine, then imported on the new (havinf copied the /Runtime/Support/userdata#.dax files across)?
I copied over the UserData_1 file from the older to the newer machine, and imported it into daz on the newer machine. Some of the metadata transferred correctly - maybe about 60%. But the rest of my fixes are MIA. To give a quick example:
I own a product called "Rec Room", a Daz Original/Dimidrol product.
It has a minor metadata issue - one prop is unlabelled and filed in Lost and Found. On my older computer, I edited the metadata and fixed this:
When I installed the product through Connect on the newer computer, it installed with the official (and broken) metadata that placed the file back in Lost & Found.
AFTER importing the UserData_1 file from the older computer to the newer computer, the smart content looked the same. So I went into the metadata settings, and this is what I found:
Now I'm even more confused...
Changes you made to a Product's metadata are not userdata, so they won't appear in the UserData.dsz file. They should appear as changes to the ctual product metadata files (in the same place) I believe (you will get a message about updating the file when closing the editor) so you might try copying those over and reimporting.
I want to be clear, because I think you might have a couple of typos in your reply - are the files in the screenshot below the ones I should move over and then reimport? These files are the ones I moved.
What I tried was copying those 3 files from the older, DIM-installed machine to the newer Connect-installed machine. I pasted these files in the Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Support folder on the newer Connect-installed machine, reimported the metadata, and ... no change.
While doing this, I noticed that most products in my library (on the new Connect machine) did not have metadata in this folder, even though the metadata for them is fine. Is the metadata stored elsewhere when a product is installed through Daz Connect?
Yes, Connect places it in /data/cloud/1_#####/Runtiem/Support/ (in other words, in the equivalent folder in the product-specific folder).
so should I paste the 3 metadata files in that /data/cloud/1_#####/Runtime/Support/ instead (and overwrite the files that are already there)?
Try it - it's not something I have tried. Keep copies though, as if it does work I think any update will overwrite the ones in the cloud folder.
If an update will overwrite any changes, doesn't that defeat the purpose of making changes?
It's annoying enough that I keep having to fix changes in the metadata of products I've purchased though Daz - never mind the problems I'm having transfering those corrections to another computer. And the whole POINT of using Connect is to get any changes Daz makes to products I've purchased as quickly and easily as possible - so I should think I would want to AVOID overwriting any updated files with an older, backed up file.
I picked the Rec Room product to use as an example of the issues I'm having transferring metadata because it's a pretty new product (SKU 61105) and there's only one very straightforward error. I'm sure you're familiar with how many complicated metadata issues there are with some other products ...
