Ron's Spray Paint HDRI?

Got this product recently and I have a question...

https://www.daz3d.com/ron-s-spray-paint

There are brushes for Photoshop which I know how to use. But it also comes with high-res JPG files.

Are the JPG files able to be used as HDRIs? Or are they intended just for general use in Photoshop?

What's Included and Features

  • 20 Spray Painted Backgrounds 6000px 4556px @ 300dpi .JPEG
  • 180 Photoshop Brushes .ABR

The only reason I'm asking is that the Install Manager installed the JPG files into DAZ Studio. But where it put them I'm clueless.

The brush files give an error when Install Manager tries to install them. Which makes sense. They are only for Photoshop.

But I'm curious to find out what Install Manager did with the Spray Paint JPG Backgrounds and where I can find then in DAZ Studio... they do not appear in Smart Content.

they are all for use inside Photoshop (not HDRI but pre made backgrounds)

In DIM make sure your Installation Tab has the location of Photoshop so DIM can install them in the right place. Alternatively I set my Brush Installation Destination in DIM to be a folder on my slave HDD. That way I am not grinding up PS. Mind you I do have a lot of Ron's brushes.

    Thank you so much!

I don't have Photoshop CS, just Photoshop Elements, so I cannot use it with DAZ.

I just load the brushes manually into Elements.

You can use the jpg images in Daz not as HDRI's but I'm guessing you just mean as backgrounds. You'll need to light the scene yourself. Open the Environment Tab, it's pretty self-explanatory.

  • I would not recommend using jpgs as HDRs. DimensionTheory has a great video that explains why.

    Thank you everyone.

I noticed with the Ron's products, the DIM tries to install them and fails.

    They are Photoshop brushes.

But the DIM had no problem installing the JPG files from Ron's Watercolors (just part of that product) so that's why I had asked the question.

I uninstalled everything and will just use the brushes in Photoshop Elements.

You need to define a path for Photoshop in the Applications tab of the settings dialogue.

Thank you! Do you know if Photoshop Elements works with DAZ? I was assuming just the full Photoshop CS integrates with DAZ, because that's the bridge (CS) that the installer has an option for.

Is the bridge simply a way to get the finished render into Photoshop CS? Or does it allow you to use Ron's Brushes directly in DAZ Studio??

  • Elements doesn't support the Bridge, but it should, as far as I know, take at least some of Ron's brush sets.

Thank you Richard! I appreciate it.

All of Ron's brushes have worked in Elements so far.
