Safe Title Zone in viewport

Is there a way to overlay a custom rectangle onto the viewport that stays there no matter how you change the view? Sometimes referred to as a "Safe Title Zone".

It is a useful tool when you will be adding things to the rendered image in post production, so you can see that there is space for them in your scene.

In the viewport menu, there is options for "Thirds guide", "Center axis", etc, but nothing for title zone.

You could ry adding a backgroud image, through the Environment pane (Window>Panes(Tabs)) - set the type to Backdrop, then click the button to the left of the colour picker to get the image menu and select Browse to navgate to and load your guide); there is an option not to have it render.

There is a variety of third party screen overlay software available on the internet to accomplish this.

    Excellent. Works great. Thanks!

  • Rob suggests another otpion might be to parent a plane to the camera, flat on, either with a map applied to opacity like the map used for the backdrop (though that would have the issue with Z-ordering transmapped surfaces that affects the non-Iray previews) or simply size and position the plane to mark the safe area.
