Changes made in the geometry editor are not saving when i reopen a project?

I'm creating a character in which i parented a seprate object to use as the head. the method i'm using to export it requires that i keep the old head intact but have it hidden so it doesn't overlap the new head. the way i have been able to accomplish this is by going into the geometry editor and hiding the different sections of the head. the head, lower and upper jaw, eyes, etc. that works perfectly. the problem is that after doing that and saving the project. when i open the project back up again everything is unhidden and i have to go back into the geometry editor and hide everything again before the model can be exported.
i've been ptting up with this, but i keep making changes to my model bby the day, testing stuff in other programs and it is a hassle to have to repeat the hiding process every time i open the project. is there a way to get the geometry editor tosave the changes i've made so when i open the project they're still there?

This is the expected behaviour. You could add all of the polygons you want hidden to the selection set for one bone, then hide that via it's visibility switch - that would save, and be easy to switch on and off as needed.
i'll try your suggestion and see what happens. thank you! that is kind of ridiculous that it wouldn't save that though. in any other program, maya, blender, etc. if i hide something it saves. i understand the geometry editor is different from the outliner, hence why i'm using it, but i would've thought it to be natural feature to implement so you don't have to repeat an unnecesary step over and over.
I beleve hiding is mainly intended as an in-progress tool while editing. You can defined selection sets, as distinct from selection groups, and then hiding each time would be a matter of switching to the tool and then clicking the eye next to the set in the Tool Settings pane.
it does have the additional feature of keeping the bones of a hidden object present without showing the faces. if you export with something hidden in the outliner it is completely gone, but with the geometry editor you can keep the bones while hiding the faces, which is what i'm doing here to use the G8 to Maya plug in. it is the only pane with the feature so i would have thought it would be "savable."
i'll try what you said though! :-)
