Same texture on multiple items

I started replacing textures on multiple buildings, using the same ones for each
Then I got to thinking, is that really going to help my render?
Bassically, will DS only load the texture once to the GPU if it's used on multiple objects, or will it load a new instance of the same texture for each object it's used on?

As of DS 4.11+, Iray no longer loads a texture more than once.
Oh poo. I had to go back to 4.10 because either instances weren't working right or iray planes weren't working right
(Huge scenes with lots of instances that I could get to fit on my GPU were no longer able to fit when I updated to 4.12 so I had to go back)
I never did try 4.11 to see if the instance or plane issue was there

Because of your response, I decided to go ahead and try the 4.12 beta and it appears that whatever caused my scene to no longer fit on my GPU was fixed :)
so now I can use my scene again and cut back on the number of textures :)
