Crash During Rendering

So yesterday I was playing around and I started getting Daz crashes during rendering. Did some searching and then followed the steps of adding content one piece at a time to find out which piece was causing it. Turns out it was the Delight Outfit for Gen2F, which is kind of a shame since it's a pretty cute outfit.

But now I'm wondering what is it about a piece of content that would cause a rendering crash? Also, is there some sort of update for that piece of content that I missed? Is it possible it was due to the combination with other things in the scene (the original West Park set, Ilsa Hair from RDna, Sapphira character from Silver/Jessaii, UberEnvironment2 and a couple UberArea surface lights) and the outfit would render fine in another setting?

Thanks in advance,

AJ

  • You can answer the last question by trying to render the outfit in an empty scene. Are you using Iray or 3Delight? If Iray you might try selecting the outfit, then going to the Surfaces pane, Editor tab, click the outfit's entry in the list on the elft, then go t the Presets tab, find Sahders>Iray and and double-click Iray Uber Base; assuming that itself doesn't cause the crash (DS will do it in the background before rendering for 3delight shaders in Iray renders) can you then render?

I didn't think to try rendering just Gen2F and the outfit. Thanks for that idea.

And I'm using 3Delight, mostly because I ordered a new MacBookPro and the latest don't have nVidia cards. At least until I find out how much slower CPU only iRay rendering is. And whether it might make sense to try to have two content libraries so I can use my current laptop for iRay rendering while building scenes in my new laptop.
