Question about animation - changing height (keymate)

Hello guys.

I've ran into a problem with animating a bird.

In the attached image I've used my grandmaster Paint skills to illustrate the issue. On the left we have a top-down view. In it I can animate the birds flight just fine on both x and y axis. However, changing birds flight on z axis (changing height) doesn't work the same way. For x and y axis I'd simplay add a keyframe with changed values on x/y axis and the keymate would do its trick and the animation works just fine.

When I try to change values on z axis on some keyframes, it would simply change the values on z axis for every keyframe and the bird would just fly straight without going up or down, it would just fly on higher or lower altitude. Instead of going from lower to higher or vice versa.

How can I make the right part of the attached image happen?

Thanks in advance and have a good weekend!

  • Y is the vertical axis in DS, are you sure you were adjusting the right thing?

  • True, my bad. Nevertheless, I was adjusting the right axis (y).

The point is, changing height on 1 keyframe changes it for all keyframes. It's one height for every keyframe. I'd like to have separate heights. So a bird can go from higher to lower altitude or vice versa.

Hi Flord. Do you have a screen shot of the action? . I am able to make a bird go up and down on the timeline by setting the keyframe where it is needed on the timeline and move the (y)translate slider see screen captures so i am not sure i am gettting what your issue is your having? are you using the graph editor instead of the timeline?. that would raise the hight of all keyframes by bending the linear track of the timeline. but if you keyframe just 1 frame on the timeline and then scrub down the timeline track a little bit and make your adjustment onto another keyframe you should see your bird should raise up and down as you move the timeline scrubber back and fourth , thats why I asked if you had a screen capture it would make it easier to see whats happening
