I am pretty sure you can, and Iray does, show a sun disc it just has to bein thr right position relatiive to thr camera - which usually means fairly low in the sky as well as correct rotation...  One simple way may be to use the Sun node direction option (can't remember what it is labelled), but add a Distant light, use that to line the sun up, then tell Iray to use that for direction of sun.

If it is in the camera view it should appear there. In the Environment tab there are two settings you can try 1) Sun Disc which increases the size and 2) Time of day and lat/long so it shows nearer the horizon.

You can add the Sundial as a quick way to place the sun (Render Presets->Iray). It becomes the SS Sun Node when using Sun-Sky. Just spin the controls around, or set the Elevation and Azimuth in the parameters tab. Easier than guessing lat-long and time of day, but there are paid presets for that, too.

I just set everything for where I live and then I have a rough idea where the sun should be at that time of day and month. Using Elevation and Azimuth is fine as long as you know what they mean and don't have to keep looking them up :)

Yes, but I don't use them frequently.
