How would i make my own product similar to this (ArcTek Cybernetic Legs for G8)

Hi,

I wanted to try making something for Daz.  Closest thing i could find on the Daz store that is similar to it is the ArcTek Cybernetic Legs for G8 product.

https://www.daz3d.com/arctek-cybernetic-legs-for-genesis-8-female

So basically its a cybernetic limb so it will articulate just like one at the joints and it will have a rigid surface.  I was thinking model it similar to a set of thigh-high boots and just hide the characters leg underneath it? can anyone recommend me any good tutorials on how i would do the rigging, setup the file directories and set it up so when i put it in my Daz folders i can see it?

  • I suspect, I do not own the product, that it is just textures replacing the G8 skin texture.

Did you look at any of the pics in the product link i provided above?

  • Also if it makes any difference the limb i'm making will slightly resemble a foot but the heel will be raised a little bit.  So i guess i need a tutorial on how to rig a set of high heel over the knee style boots?

I looked at the pics. Nothing in those pics precludes it being a texture. It could be an altered geometry as well but without the product available I don't know.

The product is a wearable prop with the leg underneath hidden from the calf down and folows the movement of the leg...

  • "replacement limbs" - sounds like they could be geograft sections. Since the price is very good atm taking a look at the actual product will give you a better of idea of how it works.

    yes i know that...

I've never made any kind of daz clothes before so this one will be my first.  I needed help or a good tutorial on how to rig a set of over the knee (otk) mid-high heel boots since thats what my mesh will most closely resemble.  I dont need help with the 3d creation part.  Just how to rig it in Blender or Daz or whatever people use.  Like if its being made for Daz does it need to be done a certain way?  And then after that setup the foldiers so that i can add/delete it to my Daz directory and load it up from within daz3ds. It would be nice if the tutorial included steps on how to hide parts of the characters body when a clothing item is loaded.  It would save me a bit of time thought if i had to i could do that with geometry editor.

Thanks i'll give that a try...figures sickleyield would have had a tutorial on it. What about clothing rigging or specifically rigging a set of over the knee boots for a G8 character? any specific youtube tutorials you all would recommend over others? i've done a bit of rigging for Blender but i dont know if stuff has to be rigged a certain way for Daz import.

  • This. It is a bit involved and requires some trial and error. When importing into Blender you need to make sure keep vert order and poly groups are selected.
