When I'm downloading new products from the Daz store using the IM, do I need to also check the Ps option if I'm not going to use it in Poser? Am I waisting space on my HD when I do?

Yep, you would be just wasting space...
@nemesis10 Thanks! Err, my friend thanks you. ????
Frustratingly, in my experience that's not ALWAYS the case. I've had a couple items not show up in DS as Daz content unless I also installed the Poser files.
Are you sure that when you purchased them, that they werre .duf files and not .cr2? I've been dupped a few times when purchasing items. I only like to work with Daz (.duf) b/c it seems to work better with the system, IMO. Which is nothing, really, lol.
Actually, that's not always true.
Some products have full DS and Poser versions, in which cases you only need the DS files.
However for a lot of older products (including any content for Daz figures before Genesis, like V4 or M4) the actual files are in poser format and any DS files included are only materials. In this case you do need the poser files. IIRC in that case the product page lists a "poser core" file and a "studio CF" file for the materials.
@Leana I was going to say there is something with those older files. Thanks for the tip. So, in you op, would you say it's safe when downloading new products that I can omit the Ps files?
For recent products there will usually be a full DS version, yes.
Most of the new PS ones are so small. It's like you are creating a lot of extra hassle for yourself in hiding those files in IM.
Sorry, this basically true of the newer products, if you are buying something "vintage" back when Daz3d mainly produced content for Poser and pre-Genesis, you might need both. I problably would only download the Studio version if it is post Genesis. Something I will point out is that every product (with some few exceptions) has an item number (SKU) associated with it; you can look up the product in daz3d.com > Help > product read me's . There you should find a page that has the product information including any instructional pdf, a file list which is wonderful if you are trying to figure out where a morph is or whether the hair is included, sometime detailed instructions and videos etc... You can check to see via the file list if the poser files just duplicates the studio files (lacking a data folder element for example).
