Poser figures in DAZ

I have several creature figures in Poser, eg: Nybras, SA Phenotypes, HIM Predator.

Can anyone tell me how I can import them (and their poses) into DAZ Studio?

  • Include your Poser library in Content Library and navigate there. Click on Poser figures just like DS figures, apply poses the same too.

  • Sorry, I wasn't clear.

Can I convert these files to DAZ Studio format?

  • In Poser there's a built-in python script in utilities called 'collect inventory'

Load your character into the Poser scene

Then run the 'collect inventory' python script

Tell it to save the inventory to a folder that you select

Then Poser will write a copy of every file used for the character... obj, cr2, textures, etc.

It will also write a pz3 poser scene inside that folder.

Close Poser and open DAZ Studio

Import Poser scene by selecting the pz3 file inside that folder with all the character files

You probably want to place this content folder somewehere in DAZ's library so DAZ will remember later where to find the content

DAZ will import the Poser ground plane and lights and camera - which can be deleted if you wish

Then save the character as a 'scene subset' somewhere in DAZ and you'll be able to add that character into daz studio whenever you like later on.

Note: when the pz3 Poser scene is imported into Daz Studio you will lose all Poser-specific shaders

  • That above method is more for Poser characters who have clothes and hair, etc.

For the DAZ Nybras you could re-download it from the Daz DIM and it will unzip it into the 'Poser Content' Library inside Daz Studio. Some old characters like the Nybras have been updated with DAZ shaders as well.

When I try to open the SanctumArt characters in DS4, they make DS4 instantly crash. I'm not sure why.

  • I thought most legacy Poser content worked perfectly well as is loaded from a runtime library

just pmd morphs an issue in DS4

you certainly can save duf versions, scene subsets for convenience

doing Genesis 8 versions is another matter but with Blender Shrinkwrap and Zbrush Zproject a morph shape would not be impossible just a fair bit of work, you can even transfer textures abd fit clothes that way once you have your shapes

I've been using thids to save V4 clothing Fit to Gen2F:

Select the figure in the Scene Pane

Use File -> Save As -> Support Asset -> Figure/Prop Assets

I'm not sure how to do poses

  • Thanks, guys.

All of your suggestions have been very helpful.
