Help! Can't Load Item Options

I don't know if I phrased my problem correctly (I'm very new to this and haven't yet grasped the jargon). But here's my problem:

I just bought Michael 8 and finally noticed he comes with a genitals option. I double click on an option and nothing happens. No genitals appear.

That's the basic problem and it has been happening for my hair color options too!

Is there a technical reason I'm not understanding? Or am I experiencing somthing with my computer or...?

Here's some further information on my experience:

Michael's eye colors and skin color seems to work as far as I've seen. I've also bought hair for Gen 3 male and used it on a Gen 8 male. Miraculously the hair seems to work on Gen 8, but I canNOT change the hair color. Except on one bizarre day when I made a new character, used the hair, and hair color randomly decided to change for me into blonde--I was shocked. But it never worked again. I'm trying to use the blue hair color option on my most important character and no dice. So yeah, now the same thing seems to happen with Michael 8's genitalia.

I really appreciate any help you can offer!

    Did you just buy Michael 8,  or did you buy a pro bundle?   To load the Anatomical elements you need to have the Pro Bundle,  or another adult male pro bundle, as the Anatomical Elements are the same for all adult male characters

    Ahhh! Thanks for your help! I got only Michael 8. I'll have to find that pro bundle!

    Do you happen to know what might be wrong with my hair colors? I didn't say this earlier, but Michael's eyebrow color doesn't change either. And basically, I can't change any color for any of my hair that I've bought. :(

    Sorry I can't help you there,   I don't actually use DS, Bryce is my main program.  But normally you use a different shader to change hair colour

    @fulatroll, you need to have the hair item you wish to selct in both the scene tab and the surfaces tab.

    So for example, select the hair item in your scene tab, then go down to the surfaces tab, select the hair, then apply your shader.

    Ok, thank you, Chohole! 

    Umi no Senshi no Ishi, thank you so much. I will try that later for sure! I had messed with the surfaces tab before and change the base color and such, but wasn't sure if I was doing it right or if it would look right in the render. I will take a very close look later.

    Back to my Michael 8 pro bundle topic: I see that it's quite expensive and I don't care for most of the items that come with it (maybe the morphs and whatever customizable features it comes with makes it worth it?). I have another character I like named Novak. It seems that he comes with the genitalia. I'm just going to ask this (dumb question) to ease my mind and eliminate any guessing, but if I buy him, will that give me the genitalia option I'm looking for? Or will there be some hidden pro bundle for him I'm supposed to buy lol? I like his eyes and everything too, so I feel like it would be a much better deal than Michael's pro bundle.

    There is one model of anatmical elements for each sex in each generation of Genesis, included in most of the adult Name Pro Bundles - so Novak will require that for the anatomical elements maps just as Michael 8 does. You don't need a Pro bundle for each character, though, so if any of the Genesis adult male Pro bundles (that includes the Anatomical Eelements) is soemthing you want then you will have the needed model for any character with anatomical element materials or morphs

    Thanks for your response, Richard. Please forgive me as I am in those very first struggling steps to understand how everything works, but let's get down to the absolute basic question: How do I make my character anatomically correct? Do I have to buy something or not? How and where do I get these elements in the first place?

    Update: you can disregard my last post, I got a little confused. But everything is fine now, as I did a lot of looking around and I get it now, yay! Thanks again to everyone, I learned a lot. And I finally figured out how to work the hair color options. WOOHOO! :)
