Something's off with iRay
![surody](https://farnsworth-prod.uc.r.appspot.com/forums/uploads/userpics/574/n51J6RLCVT4YO.png)
I added refraction to the whiskers to get a more transparent look. In the viewport it looks ok but when I start rendering the whiskers look like refraction isn't applied at all.
Both images are from the same scene with exactly the same settings. Tested with both, public AND beta build of 4.12

Huh, I would just lower the opacity in the shader tab to compensate. You could always just take a screen shot of view port and save that. Happy rendering
Not really ideal plus opacity looks different than refraction. Refraction gives it a more realistic look. I would say this is clearly a bug and has to be fixed.
You may want to compare your Draw Settings VS your actual Render Settings.
I give it a look, thanks for the advice.
The render jpg is really blury. I don't think its the whiskers thats off.
Almost certain it's that his/her Draw Settings are not coinciding with the Render Settings. For example, you can iray preview in Interactive (can be set under Draw Settings) but your Render Settings will be set to Photoreal.
