ok did something rather stupid
modified genesis radically deleting bones, weight painting bulges etc to create a simplified rig for using with transfer tool on obj imports
I saved as a support asset intending it to be a different figure but accidentally overwrote genesis
fine
delete all my genesis files and reinstall starter essentials
no luck
ok delete all the projection templates and clones for V3.v4,m3,m4,a3,d3 etc out of data too and replace with new install
still no luck
I am stopping content managemebnt and reinstalling DS4.6 now
but afraid it goes way deeper than this :long:
genesis clothes still works
just autofit broken see below M4 clothes

Lol that could be a cool concept

For what I know what you've done should work

You could try another way to be sure you don't have some genesis file elsewhere (I do have many Library with genesis base for testing purpose, so why not other people)

Go to My Library\data\DAZ 3D and rename the "genesis" folder to something else (Genesis_old for example)

    Reinstall Genesis with DIM

    Check if Autofit works

If everything is okay then you can recover the other existing files from My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis_old\Base to My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\Base. To do that just go to My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis_old\ and copy the base directory to My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\ . Overwrite all directories but DONT overwrite files.
Doing it that way, you will have a clean Genesis with all your additional morphs and other things without the need to reinstall all

thanks reinstalling DS4.6 did not fix it
temporarily removing the data folder for genesis and reinstalling the starter essentials indeed did
adding my morphs etc broke it again
so now I need to find by elimination what is breaking it!

Yup seems genesis wasn't broken after all or wasn't the only thing broken

The easiest way is to search all the files in your Genesis Data directory and arrange by modification date. You'll just have to check which ones were changed today (you did that today didn't you?) and move them out and replace them with the originals

    Good luck

the "wendy" folder is responsible so it is one of my morphs

I had ALL of genesis morphs in my Wendy folder somehow
    as well as mine
so think when I created my "TU rig" today they went there
thanks very much you really helped solve this quickly

    You're welcome

I should have known it for the directory with your name. If you provided the required information, when creating morphs, they are placed in your provided name's directory

I still don't know how a morph can break autofit unless one of your morph is modifying a base clone
