sixus1 oumua character "hide cowl" material
I am new to Daz3D and have just made my first purchase - sixus1's "Oumua HD Alien Creature for Genesis 8 Male". I can pose, animate & clothe this character without problem. But there is one point which has got me baffled. The character comes with a full body suit, complete with a headgear cowl. I'd like to lose the cowl. The character also comes with a material "hide cowl" which, from the name & thumbnail image, seems to be exactly what I want - but I can't fathom out how to apply it. I've tried going through: surfaces --> presets & double-clicking on this material there (which was what I had understood was required) but it makes no difference. I'm assuming I'm missing something basic as a newbie - but after several hours I'm pulling my hair out. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

As this is not really a Tech question you may find that you get more response in another forum
I would actually recommend New Users Help - the name speaks for itself
Just select the "OumuaMaleOutfit" in the scene tab, and apply the material. Material presets don't need specific surfaces selected, just the item in queston. In this case, it is setting Cutout Opacity to 0.0 for the "Cloth Head" surface, which you can do yourself, if you like.
Wow - thank you both for speedy responses.
I couldn't work out how to "apply the material" - everything I tried didn't work. But the suggestion of setting the opacity to zero did the trick. It seems slightly counter-intuitive to apply a whole outfit & then make bits transparent, but I guess there's a reason to do it that way rather than have separate bits of costume.
Anyway - many thanks again - problem solved.
