Windows 10 Auto Default to Photos...

Finally upgraded from 8.1 to 10 and kind of annoyed at certain features. The auto updating with no warning has lost me a few renders already, but I solved that.
Has anyone ever gotten the error message that .cr2 or .duf files are "having problems" so their default was auto switched to the Photos app?
Is there a way to make Windows stop this? Why it wants to switch defaults away from DAZ native file types is baffling.

CR2 is a Poser native file - but it's also a Camera Raw file extension. The perils of using only three characaters to indetify file types (not that people had any choice for a long time). Right-clck>Open With>Select the desird application and check the Always use this box, though I don't know if it will later revert to photos (I know I kept being told there are new options for my camera when I connect it, only to be given the same list as last time it prompted me).
Thanks.
