Problem joining a "Star base" hair in "genesis 8 female"

Good.
First of all, I should point out that I am using google translator because I do not speak English.
My problem is something that from what I saw in other posts is quite common, but it has some difference with others.
I have a free hair that I got on a page whose name I don't remember. The hair is supposed to be for the "STAR" base, but I am using it for Hotaru of Sakura 8 in the most current version of Daz Studio.
The problem is the poses and especially the animations (which even come premade for Sakura 8 and Genesis 8 Female). At first all the hair moved according to the head (since I related it without using the "FIT TO" option), but this resulted in the lower part of the hair going beyond the entire body, and this could not be fix by the parameters that brought by default.
Somehow I managed to solve this problem through the option of "FIT TO" (at first I discarded it because it caused the hair to deform, but in order to solve the previous problem I had to go to this route), but this also brought a negative consequence, which is that now the hair does not move at the same pace of the head (it is as if the hair moved faster than the head), and this happens with any pose, as with animations, or even with movements Ultra basic using the coordinate axis.
So far I have not been able to solve problem B without getting rid of solution A of the previous problem. It is as if it were an option or the other, since when a hair is in "FIT TO" I cannot match it with the head without losing the advantages that "FIT TO" gave it (referring to the most exact or perfect collision) .
I have the option "parent items in place" activated.
I do not know what else to do.
Is there any way to maintain the advantages of both solutions without sacrificing the other?
Any help is welcome.

I think people need more information to help you.

I can't find a Star morph figure for Genesis 8, do you have the link for that?

What I do find is the original Star Figure here:  https://www.daz3d.com/star-original-figure

And the Star morph figure for Genesis 3 here: https://www.daz3d.com/star-2-0-for-genesis-3-female

Sakara 8 is a morph figure for Genesis 8 here: https://www.daz3d.com/sakura-8

To have a nice hair fit it would be better to use one intended for Sakara 8 and/or Genesis 8 ;-)

  • Precisely, the hair is supposed to be for this figure:
    https://www.daz3d.com/star-original-figure

But since the hair is one of a kind, and there is none like it in the daz shop or in renderosity, I am unfortunately tied to using that (life is very cruel sometimes).
Is there anything that can be done about it so that the hair moves along with the head without the lower part going through the whole body?

Oh that's not going to be easy. One can load the hair, position it to the head and then try 'parenting' it to the head and hope for the best.

    or,

One can remake the hair. To try doing that,

Empty the scene, load just the hair.

    Select the hair and send it over the bridge to Hexagon {or export out the .obj and import into your modeler of choice}

    In the modeler also import in an .obj of the Genesis 8 Figure {no additional morphs, no skins, etc.}

Leave the Genesis 8 figure EXACTLY where it is positioned, select the hair and move it, resize it, whatever, for the desired 'load' appearance.

Then send the hair alone back over the bridge to D/S {might want to clear the scene in there first}, load Genesis 8F, select the hair, run the Transfer Utilities thing, selecting Genesis 8 as the donor and of course the hair as the target. Select NOT 'smoothing', select the rigging for whatever it says in there for 'hair' {my D/S isn't open at the moment} ... accept ... and hopefully it's still sitting on the head where desired.

    Then File > save as > Figure/prop ... to a suitable location {somewhere under My Library > People > Genesis 8 Female > Hair for example}.

Then it is ready to be played with, maybe make some movement morphs, additional textures, etc. For any changes made that you want to keep, remember to save them. Changes made that are not saved will be lost {which can be a good thing too}.

  • I will try, thank you very much for the answer.

    It did not work.
Is there anything else that can be done?

  • Not sight unseen ... you mentioned it was a free hair ... do you have a name for it? a link? a picture?

  • I tried to upload photos, but here you can't.
Just paste image links but not upload or attach an image itself.

  • Yes you can upload photos. First, below the typing box click 'attach a file' then an option to Browse appears ... browse to where the photo is and wait a few seconds while it attaches. Then Post the comment.

To get an image to show in the post, we do the above first, then we click on the image to get it all by itself in the browser and copy the url. Then we edit our post and click on the little picture icon and paste in the url. Then we click on where the picture shows and then beside that picture make sure the first number is 800 or less. Then accept, then post comment.

  • True, I had not seen the option to attach file, sorry xD.
As soon as I get home I will send some images.
But while what I can say is that I got the hair from a page in Arabic (that's why I don't remember his name, since I'm from Latin America).
    Greetings.

Okay that wouldn't help, I can't read Arabic either. However it's possible that a similar hairstyle could be found. Over in the Freebies thread there is a stickied post for making requests.

  • By the way, I sent you a message in private.

  • Yes rec'd it and replied.

In addition to my reply there, I think you'll find the hair in that set could also be used on Genesis 8 because many items that work on Genesis 3 also work via autofit with Genesis 8.

For others reading the set I'm talking about is this one: https://www.daz3d.com/star-2-0-stellar-bundle

    don't use Autofit

    don't fit it,

click the striped menu icon in scene with it selected

    choose scene identification

on the right arrow in the dialogue that pops up change Genesis 3 F to Genesis 8 F

    tnen fit it

  • Yes, but it is a hair of the original STAR base, not of the STAR 2.0

Yes, she was responding to my post I think ;-)

I found this in the store by the same artist that makes Star and Star2, I think you might like it better:

    or a little different are:

  • Yes.
I already bought the first hair (it was the first Daz article I bought).
The wrong thing is that none of the other hairs are very long.

Let's be sure we're talking about the same hair.

Do you mean you bought this hair now:  https://www.daz3d.com/vessa-hair-for-star

or are you referring to this one? https://www.daz3d.com/sakura-anime-long-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8-female-s

For either hair morphing it to be longer is one of the easiest morphs to make ;-)

Shoot it over the bridge to Hexagon, select the faces with a touch of 'soft selection' and stretch them ... then send the .obj back to D/S over the bridge and make the morph. If you like the morph, zero it and save the morph {select only the new morph you just made}.

  • Okay thank you very much.
And he said that the hair he had bought is the Sakura Long Hair

Okay, good ... that should work for you. Have fun :-)

  • I left you another query by private message.

  • No, nothing there.

  • Yes now.

if you want hairs of particular styles it's probably easier just to link reference images of anime art etc or real people and ask if there are DAZ hairs like those,

look on DeviantArt, Artstation  etc and link stuff not embed with link opening in new blank page

reason I say not to embed images is many artists consider this missuse of their work but linking to their page is fine

  • Yes now.

Yes it has arrived by now.

Considering how much it would cost you to pay somebody to do what you are asking, why don't you simply buy the hair? MUCH cheaper.

Also I'm puzzled. You said you have: https://www.daz3d.com/sakura-anime-long-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8-female-s That is already rigged and would fit Sakura just fine. Select the figure, load the hair, it should be loading fit to the head and travel with the body just fine. Selecting the hair will likely give you options on the parameters tab for movement and adjustments.

I cannot make morphs let alone rig stuff I don't own. I cannot rig mesh that I do not have. And if you are still speaking about this hair: https://www.daz3d.com/vessa-hair-for-star, I don't own it either. And even if I did, I could not rig it for G8 and redistribute that because it belongs to the PA Lady Littlefox.

To make a morph for the Sakura long hair does not require redoing the rigging. One has to not make any changes to the number of dots, lines or face normals in the mesh when it is in Hexagon. With the hair selected in D/S and from Hexagon being sent back over to D/S, the option to make a morph should be there.

If you want me making a longer hair morph for https://www.daz3d.com/sakura-anime-long-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8-female-s I would need to own the product as well as the Sakura figure morphs. As I seldom buy figures that come in bundles and the Pro bundle right now costs about $94.47 USD plus exchange for Canadian rates = $125.68 that acquisition is not in my plans.
