how to download daz studio?!

lumiasartlumiasart Posts: 126

For the love of god can someone tell me how to download Daz Studio again?! I've been at this for a week and I am exausted and behind on so many projects :(

I've had multiple issues with files not found (unless they were installed manually) and I have re-installed daz studio a hundred times by now, trying to completely delete it from my system. I want nothing to do with DIM because it hides the Daz program in corners I don't even know of and even after googleing how to completely delete daz and finding all the hiden folders and the registry it still opens with all my files. Yesterday I went all out and got CCleaner and an uninstaller to make sure I got everything (I hope I did). I always installed manually and never had any issue - should have never tried to use DIM in the first place, my fault!

The problem is that everytime I re-install I still have all the orphaned products and errors and every mistake I made while experimenting with creating categories - and I'm tired of spending hours deleting orphaned products one by one (which is ridiculous btw. We should be able to delete many at once) I want a clean slate! 100%! There was no uninstall file in any of the dozens of daz folders in my computer and the only program listed in control panel was the DIM which insists in not following the designated path and creating empty folders to then tell me my files can't be found *sigh*

I have been to this forum and tried every solutiong to every problem I've had and nothing works so I would like to completely get rid of Daz, re-install it as if it was the first time - no memories of nothing! - and start over. But now I can't download daz because the page keeps telling me to register and if I do I get the damn DIM which I completely do not want! If I click login here the page doesn't change and just keeps telling me to register. I have disabled adblocker, pop-up blocker... How can I get daz studio alone, new and fresh please?!

Thank you!

(if re-installing this time still doesn't work I suspect you'll be hearing from me again soon... sorry...)

You seem confused. You are asking for help with downloading - getting DS from DAZ' server onto your computer but then you are talking about installing - for which to work you have to had successfully downloaded the program already - and then tell us you accomplished so successfully, only to remove the program again.

So by all accounts you DID download the program. Then you DID install it. But just to go over what is needed to download the program: Log into the site. Go to the front page. Click onto "Free Download". Click "Download" under the "Manual" heading for the version you want and NOT "Download & Install". Then KEEP the downloaded installer instead of deleting it.

Now this is assuming you're using Windows. Go to C:\Users\[your Windows User]\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\ and delete the Dzinstall.ini (might or might not need to delete everything else in there, I'm not certain). Then run the installer and it should give you a clean install. KEEP the installer, so you don't need to download it again if something goes wrong.

I'm not confused, I just didn't explain right. Sorry, I'll explain... I had daz for a while and did some experimenting with creating categories and products (since files bought elesewhere - like renderosity for example) don't show in smart content. So I played around and then deleted daz hoping to return it to its clean, previous existence. Then I came to the site to re-download daz - since I didn't have the install file - and the only way I could do that was by downloading the DIM, since the download page isn't working. I thought "well, this might work. I'll give it a try." I re-installed daz and found that all the previous settings were still there. I don't want to have to delete hundreds of products one by one so I checked online how to delete daz completely. I followed the steps and still it comes back with a memory. After many tries and fails of files not found and the DIM creating wrong folders and everything going to hell I decided to use Ccleaner and an uninstaller to get rid of everything daz on my computer.

Now I would like to re-download the daz file without the DIM and I'm backl to the same issue of the page not working. It says to register unless you have an account. I click "login here" and nothing happens. I don't want to have to get DIM again just to have daz so is there a way I can do this?

    Thank you

P.s: why is the unninstaller in a hidden folder? *sigh* thank you for that.

When you say "previous settings", are you then talking about your Smart Content?

As for the download part I still can't get it. I'm logged in, I go to the front page and choose free download. Then when I click download now the page doesn't change and it tells me to register. If I choose login here, same thing... I'll add some pics to help.
I'm sorry if I'm confusing you. I'm tired and frankly angry that suddendly everytime I open daz there's a new error or a new file not found and I can't get any work done. Thanks for your help.

For example, I created products, thinking I had to to have renderosity files appear with icon in smart content, now I have a bunch of products I have to delete one by one. I would like to restart daz clean, without any of this. Thank you :)

Go to the little icon in the top right corner. Does the opening menu show you as logged in or not?

Click "My Account". Click "Product Library". Enter "DAZ Studio 4" into the Filter. Click "Filter". Select "Daz Studio 4.x Pro". Scroll down. Download.

The "hidden folder" is a standard Windows convention for programs to store their internal data where normal users won't easily mess with it and break something.
