Export Daz prop as .OBJ and it won't import to Poser or Vue

I am sure that in the past I have imported a DAZ prop exported as .OBJ into Vue and Poser. At present however, When I try to load it into Poser I get not a 'not .OBJ and in Vue it loads but the object doesn't show in the view window though it is listed in the scene contents. And while it is in the scene contents, it is locked and hidden and can't be unlocked or unhidden. Poser is the latest, and Vue is 2016 and the new Creator version - same results in both. Did something change along the way - tried several different export settings and get the obj, the mtl, and a maps folder, but they don't import. Any thoughts?

  • Well, solved the issue, but the issue remains if using the latest version of Daz. I downloaded the public beta of the next version, where I read among other things, the export/import areas had been worked on. I installed the beta, went to export a prop as an .obj file, imported it to Vue and it worked flawlessly. So I guess something happened between 4.11 and current 4.12 because I know that in the past I could export a prop as .obj and have it load in any other program that excepted that format.

Hope if anyone has the same issue, that they stumple on this post.

did you try the different options and see what's different

for example they now have quote materials paths as default

  • I don't think the chnages would break or repair the basic geometry export, so as Wendy says compare the exporter settings between the version that works and the version that doesn't..

  • as a fellow VUE user when you import you daz models as obj do they have like over 300+ assigned textures and if they dont what are you export setting I am trying to use daz content in vue and each person I bring in has like 200+ shaders in vue and its a pain to work with.
