Sorry, I might have written it wrong. The script did not crash. It is just that it cannot create the metadata due to the strange entry under Object Compatiblities. What I meant is that none of the existing buttons does erase this entry and I can also not manually get rid of it as on Mac the editor call fails although I changed the path. And ticking/unticking/selecting elements does not have any impact on the Smart Data creation as far as I can see.
I may have written that wrong as well When I say the script crashed, I don't mean the dialog disappeared. However, it did get in a state that didn't allow it to work properly. I really do need to see the log of when you analyzed the product to say more.
There is a lot of code in the log.
Here's the part with the strange entry for one of the items, marked in bold:

2020-07-16 10:36:41.868 There were errors during installation.
Question. Why is it trying to install as Renderotica when the when it should be Renderosty?
It's available at both stores.
Is this the ampersand problem again or still?
That is an excellent point. Try removing the ampersand (&) from the filename, image name, etc.
Exactly. And it's installing for the store one chooses through the dropdown or via text entry.
As said I already installed manually but I will check once I have the next product with a zip with "strange" characters. Any other characters than "&" making problems?
Whenever I see '&' implicated in a problem, I suspect that it's an XML issue. The five characters that are "special" to XML and need to be escaped are '&', '<', '>', double- and single-quote.
So I'd be wary of anything with quotes and especially of names that include '<' and '>'. But this is just speculation on my part, and @RiverSoftArt will probably be able to give you an authoritative answer on this.
Yes, it is an XML issue, at least at the smart content level as the smart content is installed using an XML file. I have been playing whack-a-mole with it, thinking I have properly escaped everything for "&" and being tripped up by it. I *think* I have it now (famous last words).
Hi RSA! I'm having trouble using content wizard on a hair asset I just made. It keeps giving me an error that the zip doesn't work when I click analyze, and then if I click analyze again it says no user facing files found. I don't know what I'm missing but as far as I can tell everything looks right? (see attached screenshots of the folder structure)
The folder structure looks ok to me. What application are you using to create the zip file? Maybe try a different one.
Are you compressing on a Mac?
Yep, that was it! I was just using the in mac os right click > Compress "yaddayaddayadda". I downloaded winzip and zipped it with that and now it works perfectly. Thanks for the quick response!
Fantastic. That is good to know that the DS scripting unzip functions do not like the Mac compress.
@RiverSoftArt
Could you check on the call for a text editor on macOS. Content Wiarzd works perfectly 98% of the time. In those 2% of cases strange entries prevent the meta-data from working. In other cases I would like to edit but cannot due to the fact that the existing call is for Windows. I tried to alter the script but without success. Don't know exactly how to call textedit.app on the Mac unfortunately.
Unfortunately, I do not have a Mac to test this on. What is the string you are putting in the constants file?
Hey RSA,
I used several strings to set var sEditor but without success. The standard app to open a textfile on mac would be TextEdit. But whatever I try:
- "Volumes/System/Applications/TextEdit"
- "System/Applications/TextEdit"
- "TextEdit"
or all of the above with TextEdit.app
I always get "cannot find". So I'm probably not of good use to find the proper path but maybe someone else will?
One more question:
- I really like installing products with CW.
- Now there is this option to create a selfinstaller.
- How should I proceed to have a CW-product easily uninstallable via DIM. Just copy everything (ZIP, DSA) to the proper folders or do I first need to uninstall, then move the CW-generated files to the proper /downloads /manifests etc. folders and install again? - First way would be much more conveniant.
Thanks!
Some further remark:
Once I create an installer from within Content Wizard I get a zip and a dsa-File. Apparently the dsa would trigger a new install, right?
This is good but I would prefer it a little different. I bought some prodcuts from other stores which came with the zip and a dsx-File. Both can be placed in DIM and then installed from there. The cool thing is that afterwards DIM shows this Non-DAZ product as installed and it can be easily uninstalled or reinstalled all from within DIM. Is it possible to export such a dsx from Content Wizard or could you make this possible with a future update?
Thanks!
If you want to use the zip in DIM, the dsx file is already there (in Content/Runtime/Support). You can just extract that one file and place the zip and the dsx in the DIM downloads directory.
I keep getting this error message when I try to use Content Wizard on a package. Any ideas how to fix this?

Please delete the product from Daz Studio (using the instruction in the manual), and then try again. Also, beware of amperands (&) in the filenames of stuff. I am trying to stomp these bugs out but that can cause problems.
So I was installing a batch of stuff, and then, after installing this one product, an item got stuck, and since then, I've been asked if I wanted to overwrite this one file. I cleared, shut down and restarted CW, but the problem persisted.
How do I get rid of this file that's overstayed its welcome?
If it makes any difference, it's this item
CL: Loomie La Fee & Bijoux de Fee
When do you get this warning?
I get it whenever I install something now. That's the only time the File Exists warning has ever appeared for me.
It sounds like this happens when you install to the content library. If you mean it happens every time you install CL: Loomie La Fee & Bijoux de Fee, it is fine that it wants to overwrite it. If you mean it happens whenever you install ANY zip product, you need to go to the working directory and make sure it is deleted.
Well, I can assure you that I don't install Loomie over and over again. Also it's only the one file, and not every file for the product. It happened with every other product I tried to install.
I'll go poking around the working directory, but wanted to bring this to your attention, and make sure I wouldn't be breaking anything.
The error message is saying it is going to overwrite a file in your "My Daz 3D Library", so it would not break anything in CW. My thought is that you said it got stuck or crashed and the OS has locked the file in the working directory. Then, every time CW tries to delete it, it can't and then later thinks it is part of the latest product you are installing.
Nope. CW and DS didn't get stuck or crash. Seemed like a normal installation. Just installed Loomie and had an item that wasn't deleted when everything else was.
Is the working directory truly empty before you run CW?
