I was trying to find a light that showed no shadow around and tried Preview Lights and the viewport immediately turned blue; I have been trying to get it back to default color but I can't find a setting for it. I am bery frustrated, so I un-installed and reinstalled DS . . . view port is still blue so I know I must have done somthing to set background and ground to blue but I can't find any settings for it; I even tried the reset to default . . . can someone please tell me how to get rid of the blue screen??

As I said in your Renderosity thread this isn't something that Preview Lights would do - especially as it doesn't go when you turn the switch back on. Have you tried the suggestion to change the background colour in Window>Style>Customise Style (or just Select Style to reload the default)?
OMG! I did not see that suggestion at Renderosity; I just checked the Window one and there is a color chosen, but I didn't do that . . . where do I select Style to load default?? I saw a Style delete the select style one but window is still blue . . . I'm so sorry I didn't see it.
I can't even remember what color ir was . . . but a solid color isn't right, is it? Thought it was a checkerboard effect used for tramsparency but I am getting really confused.
Under "Window > Style > Select Style" Studio has three styles, Darkside, Highway and Main Street, the default background color for Highway and Main Street is the blue you are trying to remove.
Now the very first time you install DS4 it defaults to one of those two styles (can't remember which one is default), so the background would have been blue then too.
Now if your background wasn't blue then you were probably using a "Custom Color" or even a "Custom Style", and your clicking on things has probably reset the Interface.
The checkerboard is what you see when you render, it doesn't show up in the viewport, and it doesn't matter what the background color is either.
