The Blender people have released version 2.70.
http://www.blender.org/
New features include initial support for volumetrics in Cycles, and faster rendering of hair and textures. The motion tracker now supports weighted tracks and has improved planar tracking. For mesh modeling there are new Laplacian deform and wireframe modifiers, along with more control in the bevel tool. The game engine now supports object levels of detail. The first results from the new user interface project are also in this release, with dozens of changes to make the interface more consistent and powerful. This is also the first release of the multithreaded dependency graph, which makes modifier and constraint evaluation faster in scenes with multiple objects.

Thank you Vaskania, I didn't know. Going over there and download it now.
I didn't either, but it was just released yesterday.
So far I'm not liking the new tabs down the left side. I haven't found a way to make them or the text on them bigger, and I think I'm going blind trying to read them. lol
Ctrl-middle-click in that panel and drag up and down seems to work for me to zoom the panel text to be larger and smaller (tabs as well as buttons and everything else in the Toolshelf)...
Ctrl-Alt-U (Preferences), Themes, Text Styles, Widget: Points: will change the size of ALL text to be larger and smaller...
Ctrl-Alt-U, Themes, 3D View, Theme Space Settings, 'Tab Active', 'Tab Inactive', 'Tab Background' and 'Tab Outline' allow you to change the various colours used (I prefer to make the active tab pale green, with all the others a bit lighter, to make it easier to distinguish from the 'tab tray' backdrop)...
... I'm still undecided whether I like all this 'hiding' of stuff (as distinct from having a humungous Toolshelf and having to scroll vertically on a regular basis...)...
HTH (^_^)n
My eyeballs thank you!!I was hoping for something that will adjust only the tabs and not the rest of the panel, but I found a happy medium where the tabs are a bit bigger and the rest of the panel isn't gigantic.
Thanks, was just there a few days ago, and this was still listed as under testing. May try my hand at it again.

Thanks for this M F M. I hadn't even noticed the tabs on the left in Vaskania's screenshot until I just read your post.
I haven't upgraded yet, but I think I'd like the tabs vs. scrolling, if I can adjust the text size. That was my main complaint with Carrara. The menu text was so tiny I was squinting, and my eyesight is not THAT bad.
