Still hopping for a "skin" textures set

in The Commons
i'm still hopping one day we can get like we get for "outfits" and others stuffs" a set of "color" but skins, i really would love to have skin sets for ethnicities and or ages
like a set with let's say 5 different ethnicities, from caucasian, to afro, to asian, to latin and maybe with some "variations of each like "more dark, less dark, more light less light and things like that or from "babie" or toddler to teens", would be really cool having a product like that instead of just "a new character from ethnicity A or B or from a chracter from age A or B, would be cool having a set of "skin textures to cover ethnicities and or ages for both male and female in G8.

the problem with this is, it's already out there for Daz Studio, but relies on how Daz Studio works to make it happen which doesn't translate to other programs or game engines like what you are using.
yeah i know which we have some stuffs which are like a "effect" to make the "color change inside daz", but would be interesting to have really "different sort of color skins which each one bump map, normal map, specially for young ages, where the skin really need be different not just a "recolor", even because normally is not only the skin color which different but also "skin details" can be different from each ethnicity than just "recolor" a already existing texture.
would be cool to see a product like that to buy, in the same way we have "morphs products for like 5 variations or more of asian face and body then we also have a skin product set of 5 asians variantions of skin body for adult and maybe for kids/teens, creating a big range of possibilties to work.
another exemple have a set of "kid caucasian skin(or asian, or afro or any other) going from some ranges like babie-toddler ---------> 6 to 8 or 10 years------------------>10 to 14 -------------- 15 to 18, to better emulate diferente type of childrens age without have to have a "already existing unique character" for each one to work to be more generic.
Don't you get exactly that after buying one (or a few) characters of every ethnicity/complexion/age group you're interested in?
Unless all the vendors happen to be using the same skin resource, yes. The problem is that there really aren't that many textures commercially available out there, so there's a huge amount of repetition.
Hmm - a possible solution - everyone who uses DAZ needs to take high resolution naked pictures of themselves from every possible angle and then send them to DAZ. Not.
The issue is that realistic skin looks different for different ethnicities. You can't just lighten or darken a single base skin texture and get anything that looks realistic except for the base skin it was created from.
If you're looking for high quality base textures, I'd recommend looking at the Daz Original base characters...I most often end up using them on my own dial-spun characters because they (generally) have the highest quality color maps. There are exceptions, of course.
that is exactly my point, instead of have to buy like 2 to 10 or more characters to have the "combination of skin i need with ages and ethn grou´p how about just buy a "skin set" with all???, because it would means i would not need to buy 99999 different characters to have just the "skin" not the model.
Well, first, that would mean less money for DAZ and the PAs, so I'm not sure what the incentive to offer such a product would be unless the price was extremely high, just as Merchant Resource texture sets tend to be more expensive than straight character sets. Second, you really would need to break things down into completely seperate groups by ethnicities anyway, as there are distinct differences in color and texture variation that will look fine on one racial group and terrible on another, and that filters down to subsurface, scattering, etc., as well as the bumps/normals/displacements to match each. Finally, having just a set of base skins would limit you to using makeups that.were LIE or Geoshell based, unless you're expecting this set to also come with multiple variations of each face texture to add lipstick, mascara, etc... in which case, you're back to essentially buying a bunch of different characters and mix and matching, just getting it all in one big set.
Given that the closest thing to what you describe is Zev0's Skin Builder sets, https://www.daz3d.com/skin-builder-8-for-genesis-8-females which are apparently herculean efforts to prepare and don't sell well enough to justify the effort required to create complmentary male versions, I can't imagine that what you want is something that's commercially practical.
Conversely, there might be a market for a realy comprehensive and in-depth tutorial in .pdf or video format to explain and demonstrate *how* to take a base skin and rework it in the surfaces tab for different ethnicities/alien species. *With* a side note on lighting it. Because lighting is at least half the equation.
Id probably get cash to not do that. :)
using "Lie stuffs would not be a issue, because the idea here is the "base skin" not make-up and things like that, all you would need to have the base skins for exemple a set of skin for afro with let's say 5 varations, don't need to have lipestick or anything like that just the skin, would be good enough, because you would just use lie stuffs to cover for the make-up, this is in case for a adult for childrens where you don't need a "make-up and just the skin would be perfect 5 varions of skins for 5 diferent ranges of age and things like that.
based on the ammount of "skins" i really thing it would not be "that expensive", jus take the skinbuilder you linked, it come with a huge amount of "textures" to make all the effects and when you looks to the price is not that really "omg expensive", for exemple most of the bundles from daz are a lot more expensive than a product like that can be based on the amount of skins, even some fantasy/sci-fi characters come with some "skin color variations" ofcourse just the color not "details", but still would be good to have a product like that, if we have "space sell materials for "almost everything" like props, weapons, outfits, why not also for skins too?, that would be really good to have.
and to be fair i'm not talking about one producting having like almost every type of skin in the world, but multiple products based on that stuff again like we have for others stuffs like again for exemple a skin set of 5 skin for childrens going from toddler to teen for caucasian only another for afro or maybe mixed for male or female or both or make a male and a female a bundle to sell both together' that will be up to the creator, you would not need to work in make up just the skin and at best eye colers variation.
and i have bought the skin build and while he can be overal good he is not really what i would need, the only real good on him is the fact which i can use many of the textures which come with him outside daz, but to really make that sort of variations i want it not really that "perfect" and specially because it is only for "female" and i would nee to have for both "male and female", not just female.
I reckon there would be a fair few people willing to provide their skin references
finding a photographer willing to produce the quality references the issue
sending DAZ your phone
pics not going to cut it
I dunno, phones these days come in some pretty high resolutions... the real trick is holding the selfie stick in the right postions.
here we go again

every time i see a product like that it still anger me a lot the fact which we can get a "morph set of different type of characters from different places but we can't get a "skin set", which for me make 0 sense no one try to sell it unless daz have some sort of police which don't allows it, because even if you make let's say a set with 5 diferent skins it still not gonna means which "it represents all the "skins of peoples in the world" because the world skin tone variations is so big which would be impossible to have it, but again why we can get "morphs' or characters but we can't get skins???, again they will be pretty much like outfit texture variations.
to be clear i'm not complain over the released product, for me is good to have a morph set for diferent peoples but why we can't also release a "texture set too" like the outfits???, i really would love to know a "real and reasonable reason for that.
Well, a set of five distinct skins would be a rather large product, morphs are - for the most part, from what I know - somewhat less complex and so easier to bundle together like this.
yeah but when you think in the "other way" it make this product even more "expensive"because it pointless to have let's say a "african" character morph but i don't have a "african skin", this means which in order to make this bundle work, i would need to buy a "extra character" from the representation" to have the 'proper skin" to work on, which make the product pointless since i could just use this character "anyway unless i would want to have 2 characters from the same representation then using the same skin with different morphs, but still made the product more "expensive than it is", because i will need "extra characters for the skins" instead of just give some skin set.
and even if 5 is too much then give 3 like 3 skin variantions for african characters or 3 skin variations for asian something like that, again if for "fantasy characters like elfs or aliens you can have "multiple skins' why for "regular peoples it's soo complex, just make the same skin with slight different tone or one or other detail, don't need which each skin be a totall diferent skin.
What kind of purple banner would I get for that?
