Infernal Wings crashes my DS

in Technical Help (nuts n bolts)

When i load https://www.daz3d.com/infernal-wings-for-genesis-8-males-and-genesis-8-females i get crash.

I'm using 4.8 version of DAZ Studio, is there anything that could be done for workaround or i can't use it until i update to more current versions?

    Which version of DS (Help>About Daz Studio)? How did you install?

    DS version 4.8.0.59

    Install manual (product library - download)

    Then there may well be an incompatibility, unfortunately a limited number of people are likely to be able to help with such an old versions of DS.

    Isn't DS 4.9 the absolute minimum for G8?

    not really, G8 mostly works in 4.8, though  powerpose on face doesnt work, and more recent skin materials need to be adjusted (often translucency weight, but sometimes more settings need to be changed). Maybe something more i forgot (like previous gens clothes might not fit to a-pose, not sure).

    So G8 doesn't work. You need to upgrade.

    Hi - yes the error message all point to conditional grafts so your version of DS very likely does not work with them. All I can suggest is to either upgrade or go into the data folder for the wings and remove the dsf files. Those presets won't be available but the wings should load.

    My DAZ 3D Library\data\Mada\InfernalWingsMale\InfernalWings\Morphs\Mada\Base\Hide Membrane.dsf

    My DAZ 3D Library\data\Mada\InfernalWingsMale\InfernalWings\Morphs\Mada\Base\Hide Membrane Back.dsf

    My DAZ 3D Library\data\Mada\InfernalWingsMale\InfernalWings\Morphs\Mada\Base\Spider Wings.dsf

    Hah, this sounds like "all or nothing" mindset. While i would agree that it doesn't work if it could not be loaded and used at all (like wings here), or would have more serious problems (like if rig wouldnt work etc.).

    That being said, you are right that i finally should update. It's just i thought i will do that when i'll upgrade my PC as well. I'm on late 2015 desktop with nvidia 960gtx and i5-6500@3.2 quad core cpu.

    Also, initially, back in those times, i thought i'll mostly only ever be using Genesis 3 and earlier, but Genesis 8 ended up having amazing support from PAs that continues up to nowodays, so i can't resist and ignore them. Hm... Also dForce, that i can't use. Ouch!

    Thanks for reply! I tried preset removal suggestion, but fatal error remains. Well, now it's inevitable that i need to update DS. laugh
