Dreamlight Products

Hi All,

I really like the look of Dreamlight's products, which is heartbreaking why I have to stay away from them. Here's the catch...

When I try to render a Dreamlight product, it takes around 9 hours to render just 1, single frame. However, if I try to render anything by Stonemason or Jack Tomlin, which are fantastic quality too, it takes minutes. I don't understand why.

I've never been able to use "Alienz" by Dreamlight, or "The Bar Interior" by Souless Empathy. I purchased these products ages ago and they just don't render.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks,

Dean

not tried in studio but the Souless Empathy bar renders fine in Carrara and even iClone so not the mesh
must be studio shaders or lights
suspect also the case with Dreamlight

No idea about the Alienz product but the Bar Interior I had huge issues with - on checking it out I found wjat appeared to be over-lapping material zones, 90+% of which had custom shaders. I finally managed to get a render completed when I got a new computer. Mainly as even with the 32GB installed it still rattled the swap file a bit before completing. No wonder my old beast with a 'mere' 8GB had issues! If I'd found all this out within 30 days of me getting the Bar Interior it'd have gone straight back.

Could it be poly count is too high or as Simon suggested, surface issues.

Are you having the same issue rendering any of the DL freebies too or just the pay for items? I have a few of his freebies I think but I have never rendered them and I dont own any of his sets

I don't have Alienz but I've used Dream Lounge for a few renders in my current bumbling way and find it renders well and fairly quickly assuming I don't load certain figure combinations that give me problems.

I've also used Dreamlight's setups for some of Stonemason's terrain and they work great there. Not the fastest renders I've done but overall given my inability to do my own lighting fully worth it to me in terms of both money and render time. Plus the quality is so far beyond anything I could have done on my own.

To be fair though my machine is a fairly high end gaming rig so has a lot of power to toss at renders.

Not sure about the Dreamlight kits, but sometimes a too high raytracing depth in the render settings can cause an enormous amount of time. Could be the case with the Bar Interior certainly. At least I had this problem with the Canal Street product, where about everything (even house walls) are reflecting to some extend.
