Ram usage question, having a large runtime

Should I hide/move resources in my runtime that I don't ever use?

Do they take up video ram resources when I load a blank scene?

How much, and what kind of resources does a large runtime use other than disk space?

Another question,

If I have a large scene and I am worried about RAM usage, should I close all viewports before rendering?

Having them closed would free up resources too?

Files on disc don't use any video RAM. Elements loaded into the scene and not hidden (as objects) do, though things like morphs are all cosolidated into the geometry sent to the render engine (it doesn't get, or knoww hat to do with, the rigged figure).

I don't know how much memory a viewport would consume - there would certainly be no harm in closing those that weren't needed.
