Is there any way to pipe music into DS 64-bit, Mac?

From all I've read so far, I think the answer is likely to be a resounding "no" (with or without a stifled laugh), but I'm hoping some technical maven has a secret magic formula.
I don't need to do lip-syncing, per se. I just want to be able to put downbeat markers as a guide to which I can animate some subtle dance/gesture movements. So I need to somehow match the music to the DS timeline.
Given too many reasons to go into here, I think launching the 32-bit version is not a working workaround for what I need to do.

get the BPM, there is your base tempo. Depending your render FPS, just calculate it :) ( https://toolstud.io/music/bpm.php )
Yeah, I've done that. There are a bunch of "tap for bpm" sites online. In my experience, it works out in theory, but not always in practice—especially when dealing with music not recorded to a click track, as I am now. Too much "drift," in which case nothing really works except having the audio with the timeline to find and mark good cues.
