Imported hair not moving with animation

I have imported 3rd party hair and made its parent the David5 figure. I've then applied some of the stock animations (forward, corner left, corner right, forward). The hair does not move with the character - but at the end of each animation block it jumps to the correct place.

This differs from stock Daz3D hair which I can "fit" to the character & then the hair follows the character as it is animated. No "fit" option is offered for this 3rd party hair - so I simply parented it & set the transformations so it appears in the correct position relative the figure.

If I manually adjust the character in the timeline - the hair follows correctly

So I assume the issue is down to the fact I have simply "parented" rather than "fitted" the hair to the character - is that the case?

Is there a way to solve this problem?

    You say you parented it to the figure If you mean that literally then try parenting it to the head isntead (things thata re simply parented have to be parented to the body part they need to move with; fitted items pick up the posing from the bone-matching between them and the base figure, parenting is just an organisational thing - and needed for wearables presets).
