Strand based hair products?

Are there any strand based hair products on the market? If yes, how do I recognize them? Is there any free strand based hair asset provided by Daz that allows me to make tests with it? Many thanks!

The free part is that it's in DS and you can create whatever you want.

As for products, when you go to the search - people and wearables, then hair and then go down to the filters and under software you get a drop down for dforce hair and the products that use SBH will show up there. I am surprised there are not more by now.

You can create and edit your own strand-based hair in Daz Studio with no additional purchases.

    Create  > New Strand-Based Hair

    Edit > Object > Strand-Based Hair

There are a couple of tutorials on Youtube about the process.

There is 1 example of strand based hair in the free "Dforce Starter essentials" for G8F and G8M included with DAZ studio.

It's called "G8F Strand-Based Hair Mohawk" or "G8F dForce Hair Mohawk" for the dForceable version (replace G8F with G8M for the male versions). Though perhaps not the most general use style it does generally show how it works.

Is dforce hair always strand based?

It's probably due to a few factors but, more than likely locking important functions to store vendors only, meands only a few people can make them properly and build the expertize involved greatly hampered their wide use. It also meant their use was limited to mostly people who already make hair, and would more than likely just use the method that already worked (and to be honest, most of the strand based hairs don't look as good as certain examples of the "old" style, while being a bit more annoying to work with).

A decision that still makes zero sense as we all know how allowing everyone to pose their own figures meant no pose sets are ever sold on the store, or textures, or props, or morphs or lighting sets etc etc etc. laugh

Actual dForce hair, yes, but there are also older hair products that use dForce cloth and those are not strand-based (at least not in the same way).

Has (adut male type) Strand Based Hair included. Diego 8 isn't really a requirement if it's just the SBH you want to use to try your hand at editing what the PA supplied.

Out of curiosity, how are the SBH elements included? Are they just scene subsets, or did the vendor find some other way of distributing them?

the vendor set up the sbh to load in when you load the character and cant be loaded independently.

i think scene subset would have been preferable
