Are there dials for textures like for SubD?

I am learning how to get the most out of my characters.  I've seen mentions of dialing up textures in the forum but don't understand what that means.

I only use bought characters and I want to optimize but not changing their looks.  I get the benefit of subD.  Even if my character is not HD, dialing up from subD2 to subD4 likely will bring some more details out to the render because the mesh itself got finer, albeit the cost-beneift might not be worth it.

Is dialing up textures something people customizing textures say or is it a Daz function?

There isn't a way to dial textures up in DS - and it doesn't really have much benefit done in an image editor. The advantage of SubD, even without HD moprhs or dispalcement to add detail, is that it smooths the mdoel out. People do do the opposite - reduce the size of textures to save memory when the full resolution isn't needed - but that requires additional scritps such as Scene Optimiser, or down-sampling in an image editor and reassigning the maps through the Surfaces pane.
