Hair not showing up

Hello! I have this issue with some hair I purchased not showing up in Iray. It's called 'Emile Hair', and it doesn't show up in the Iray Preview or in either the Octane or Iray Renders. I've got a pic attached, but I don't know enough about the details of surfaces and shaders and materials to really understand what's going on and explain it well. Any ideas? Thanks!

It is not the easiest hair on the system ;-) Made a spot render and the progress bar gave warnings and vanished although the spot render was happening. Had to minimize D/S by using the right-click command off of the taskbar to 'show the Desktop' and then clicked on the icon to reshow D/S.

The hair does not show up 'for real' under the hair is rendered. So your before image is correct. The 2nd image I would say the program said forget it. I have had hair do that but it would then render on the next attempt. So it's rather hit and miss. More light on the hair might help, Iray LOVES light.

  • Idk if you ever solved this but in case any new users stumble upon this thread. dForce hair will NOT show up in your iRay preview window normally. It WILL however show up in your actual final render. So just do a test render via the actual render output and you will see it. This seems to be some kind of software limitation specifically with dForce objects like hair.
Supposedly you can get it to show in the preview by selecting the item, going to Paremeters > Display > Visible in Simulation (On) however I have not been able to get this to work.
