Am hoping to get the rudder section of the plane in motion, just to finish off this piece of artwork I have, how do I do a circular blurry motion of the rudder in flight?

I have the latest Artrage, Photoshhop CS6, DAZ Studio, Bryce, Hexagon, etc. Would I have to postwork this in, and if I do - how?

By rudder do you mean propeller? I am useless at postwork so my first attempt would be to see what the in-built motion blur in Daz Studio did - basically set animation frame to 1 and use the parameters/morphs to 'spin the prop' (maybe 145 to 180 degrees?) then in advanced render options click the 'motion blur'; option.

I duplicated the layer and masked out a roughly circular area.

    Used Filter/Blur/Radial Blur.

Then reduced the layer opacity to let the original show through as much as necessary.

OK, thanks for the help, looks like the way I want it, see what I can do.

Given it a little go, just not sure how to deal with the masking bit.

I understand the blur and motion blur bit, might do the rest with the other part of the plane too, not sure on that yet.

How do I use the Create clipping mask bit?

    Hi weavo

With your duplicate selected, use the elliptical marquee tool (M) and just draw the circle you want.
Then on bottom row of the layers palette you click on vector mask (to the right of the fx button)
That will create the 'mask with a hole' in one click.

The only fiddly bit is finding the center of rotation of the blur.:cheese:
You can try moving the center in the filter but it was easier to use the move tool (V) and move the layer, try the blur, remove the blur and repeat, till I found the center.

Looks good but is it too subtle?

Have done a better version, just gotta sort the propellers again, added more to background.

Getting there, what was the angle you used the rest of it to create that spin perfectly in radail blur options?

Very quick effort all in Daz Studio:
    Load and position biplane.
Set Spin parm to 90 in frame 1.
    Set frame back to 0
In advanced settings, check Motion blur, set Motions samples up (I put it at 16), Motion Amount to 33%
