Naming Bones for Transfer
I feel like I'm missing a step.
I have my mesh
modeled,
UV mapped,
grouped,
exported to obj
weight mapped
rigged and moving within initial limits.
I feel like I'm ready to do the Transfer Utility but can find very little info on exactly what the bones need to be Named so that the transfer is successful.
Right now, my bones start on #1 but I feel like 'hip' needs to be in there somewhere. I've taken a look at other assets and do not see a numeric value anywhere.
Any tutorials or videos that can clear this up?
Thank you.

Oh it's easy ... no need to do any weight mapping or make individual bones!
Use the transfer utility, select the person figure as the 'donor' and the new .obj clothing item as the 'target' ... show options and maybe add smoothing modifier ... and select the appropriate choice as to what the clothing type is - that will give you all the bones :-) The utility does all the work :-) If you like the result, File > save as > figure/prop to an appropriate location under My Library but not in the Runtime folders.
Does this also include wings?
Sounds extremely too good to be true.
I will give it a try.
Thank you so much.
Well, not entirely. If they are geograft wings then yes to start with. There has to be that its base bones are inline with the figure's so leave all those be. But then you would need to add child bones outwards on the wings adjusting the weight maps as required. I'll say in principal because I have not rigged wings. To start with some of the existing bones [not required past the joining of the figure on the wings] simply rename them so when posing the figure they do not pose as well.
I don't know what your skill level is on this so I will mention that there are wings available for sale in the Daz3d store. As much as I like making clothing, I buy wings and hair.
If you want custom bones you will need to add them after using the Transfer Utlity (or if they don't need to graft just rig them from scratch and parent them to the figure)
Thank you. I looked at the wings available but none of them are what I need. These are posable, not just for flying. That's what led to this project.
My skill level is pretty "what's this button do?"
Still looking for a training video or help thread on the distinctions.
Thanks

Thank you.
Just to be clear. If I'm not going to use geograft, I do not need to do the Transfer Utility?
Right.
Beautiful!!
Thank you so much.
Both of you!
