cannot use parametric lights

I'm having trouble with a scene. I purchased Ruby from here-
https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/ruby-for-genesis-3-8-/127516/
And used one of her lighting presets (skydome presets) just to see what would happen.
Suddenly I can't seem to turn her skydome OFF. I want to use parametric lights in the scene instead but it completely ignores those now. What setting where got messed with that suddenly parametric lights won't show up in I-Ray renders?

A related issue seems to be, that after using one of the skydome presets there is a light "somewhere" that will not turn off. How do turn off this skydome light? I checked, it's not a headlamp.
If this is an Iray render, you can go to the Render Settings pane and change to Scene Only, instead of Dome Only or Dome and Scene.
But if it says "dome and scene" shouldn't at least spot lights work?
Yes and no ... DAZ lights (spot, point, etc.,) load in the correct mode for the render engine in force at the time of load. If you later change the render engine the lights remain as they were. In addition, if they ARE actually working you will need to jack the output level (lumnes NOT intensity) up to large values to have them be noticable.
Yes, but the spotlights at their default setting may be overpowered by the HDRI (skydome) light. You asked how to turn the dome off. Scene Only is the answer to that question. Once you are in Scene Only mode, you can more easily evaluate whether your spotlights are bright enough. If you need them brighter, adjust the lumens, not the intensity slider.
Hm... well turning up the lumens worked. Just weird that I had to turn them over 100000 to get decent lighting in a small room with four spotlights turned up to max intensity.
Render Settings Tone Mapping defaults are for outdoor daylight scenes. Default EV is 13. Have you changed the EV to a lower value, something like 9, for an interior scene? If not, you will have to crank your lights way up to make it as though those spotlights were the sun.
It's currently at 13, but on turning it down suddenly the lights got WAY brighter so that's probably the control I'm looking at.
Bear in mind that Tonemapping doesn't actually add light to the scene. It is equivalent to changing the ISO setting on a camera. Iray renders faster with less noise with more light. Use tonemapping to get the look you want.
