You need to make an iray surface "metallic" for a reflection. To know where the mirror is pointing, you need to know the distances of both the object you wish to see and the angle of your camera, which is best learned from a physics tutorial on reflection and angles.

Just so happens, I was doing this very thing earlier today. An Iray update to one of my older products.

The image is a screencap of the compact in Iray preview mode, and as you can see, if the mirror is tilted correctly, you can see the reflection. This isn't possible in 3DL, so you have to resort to maths. The material settings are for a mirror (Iray) with a slight green tinge, but you can change the Base Color to suit yourself.

One thing I used to do, before I got some actual mirror settings, was to apply the Metal Silver from the D|S default Iray materials. There's a Roughness setting (either Diffuse or Glossy, can't remember which) that needs to be zeroed otherwise the reflection will look a bit fuzzy. It's not quite perfect, but IMHO close enough for most purposes.
