How to set the spot render to "new window" ?

odasteinodastein Posts: 606

From time to time, I want to do a partial render to correct something, but every time, I have difficulties finding how to set the spot render to "new window". I generally ends up finding it, but this time, I can't for some reason. I looked up previous threads on this issue, but they mention that it's done in "tools", and I don't see anything in tools with that option. Could you help me finding it like I was an idiot? Thanks in advance.

While the spot render tool is active, you need to go to the "Tool Settings" pane where there is a button to check to render to a new window.

Thank you. Now I see why I never can find it. "Tool settings" isn't one of my default tabs, and I have to open it specially for this purpose (and I was looking into the "tools" drop down menu). Hopefully, I'll remember that next time.

Ah, I use Spot Render a lot (I'm an Iray CPU-renderer so it would take me ages to re-render scenes every time I spotted a minor glitch) and the Tools Settings panel is pretty much mandatory for Geometry Editor and Mesh Grabber, so I've had it docked for quite a while.
