Moving DAZ installation to new PC

I am going to have a new computer soon and I want to make the transfer of all of my assets and installation as seamless as possible.

Is there a guide for doing this?

    I'm sure ther are many.

What I'd do though (since I went through this on a new laptop recently) is set up the new system with EXACTLY the path structure you want first.  I absolutely HATE when arrogant software insists on installing onto your boot drive.  Even so, there will still be a tiny bit of DAZ that will still install onto C:, but not gigs of content assuming you install somewhere other than C:.

Then, install & set up DIM to point to the new paths.

Next, Install a fresh copy of  DS & point to the correct NEW paths, etc. set up with DIM as well via F2.

I'm pretty sure you can install DIM first then DS; been some months since I did this.  If not, adjust accordingly.

Now, you could either then re D/L all of your content, OR copy over the DAZ "D:\DAZ Downloads" paths from the current system (such as this path for example) to the new.  Remove the .dsx files & then reinstall in batches (I'd do the basics first) via DIM as it will now see items available to install. If you have Poser as well, then pretty you can pretty much install everything, but if not, filter out the Ps and non Daz items first.  Otherwise you'll have a scad of missing icons, which you might still end up getting but at least fewer. Any 3rd party, non DIMable items you'll need to install manually of course.

I'm working up the nerve to do this to my main system actually, to mimic the laptop which is nice, clean & fairly organized .  Main system is a FrankenInstall going back several versions of DS & it's really time to do some Spring Cleaning.

Got's to take avantage of this Shelter in Place situation somehow, ya know.

Before installing any applications, if you are going to keep documents etc. on the non-boot drive you need to tell Windows to do so by right-clicking on the folders in your Profile, selecting Proeprties, then goign to the Location tab and using the Move option.
