Mimic Live! A question.

Since Daz took away my lip sync capacity when I foolishly upgraded to 4.12 and let it write over my lovely old 32 bit version with lip sync, I've been thinking about buying... Yes, buying a plug in to get on with my dialogue animations. There appears to be only two alternatives; Anilip and Mimic Live.

Mimic Live looks like a good option but absolutely nowhere can I find out if it allows me to import a pre-recorded .wav file. Some may assume that would be taken for granted, but if I'm going to pay $50.00, I'd like to see that facility in writing beforehand.

Does anyone know the answer to this?

Thanks in advance.

  • Mimic live doesn't allow importation.

Anilip does, but at least on my system it just tosses an error everytime i try to import. the text to speech works, but that's about it.

For anybody interested here's the error.

"the requested lookup key was not found in any activation context"

From what i can find in a general search, it appears to be an Internet explorer related error, so it could be my IE(11, don't aske me what specific KB it is) or OS(server 2012r2).

haven't tested it on other OS's yet.

I did a review of the various audio based lip sync options excluding Anilip which I don't have($90 USD Arrrgghh!)

Thanks for this wolf359, it answers a lot of questions but I really miss my 32bit Daz lip sync. I used it for years with good results. Ho-hum, we must move on. I find it astonishing that a a suite of animation software such as Daz3D is putting so many hurdles in the way of lip syncing, a basic element of animation.

Anilip is an expense which I can't justify on the results I've seen compared to Mimic Live. Watching your video, I am at least confident that I can use a pre-recorded .wav file to voice my characters, so thank you for that.

I guess it's going to be a Mimic Live future for me!

https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/115371/for-my-fellow-animators-using-mimic-live You can pipe pre-recorded audio to mimic live but it requires a second computer /sound card.... Smart phones/mp3 players etc. will not work.

I knew about this technique, I've done it. FWIW, it works, although I'll take the original Lip Sync any time. This is the first time I've read about the source device. May I ask, what is your take on that? Aside from signal level and impedence, the destination doesn't know what the source is. In fact, line out to mic in is already an impedance mismatch. I'm just curious.

Hi, I have no clue about the technical reasons.... However three attempts with three different Android phones have failed for me. ....YMMV.

Thanks. Just guessing wildly... the cell phone audio output may be purposed to drive earbuds, but nothing bigger. If so, it could be compensated for.
