Reflections

Hi,

Is there a guide/thread offering guidence on how to use reflections? I've used them in the past but getting them to work how I want seems hit and miss or a matter of fluke. Recently tried a render with a fantasy warrior holding up a sword and trying to get his opponent reflecting in the blade, but could not manage it. I'm thinking it's probably to do with positioning?

Angle of incidence equals angle of reflection - the mirror surface needs to point mid-qay between the thing you want to reflect and the camera. If you have Measure Metrics you coudl probably measure that to get it set correctly.

Thanks, Richard. I'm now googling about angle of incidence, although I get the feeling my poor old brain might melt before I'm through because it looks pretty complicated.

You might find reflection designer interesting, @SteveM17. It's a tool to automate creating reflections.

Looks interesting and effective, but I don't use Iray at the moment (and I'd rather do it for free if I can).
