Ivy Castle would not download and install from the Install Manager. I was able to download it to my desktop. How do I install it into Bryce or sent it to Daz Studio?

I don't know what file(s) are included with the product, however the product description in the store suggests it is a .obp file . If so, you want to put that in a new subfolder you create within
WINDOWS 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ 3D\Bryce7\Presets\objects
or
WINDOWS XP: C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\Bryce7\Presets\objects
(so it might perhaps look like "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\Bryce7\Presets\objects\MyCoolNewIvyCastle\whatever.obp"). Different files go in different locations. If you intend to change or back up any of these installed files, and for other reasons, there are additional considerations in addition to just putting the files there. For a very detailed explanation of lots of different files, check out Horo's "Bryce Content FAQ" pdf file, which you can find by going to http://www.horo.ch/docs/sys/index_en.html , then from the menu on the LEFT SIDE, select "Mine PDF" > Diverse > "Bryce Content FAQ"
Sending to DAZ Studio is an entire topic unto itself. The quick answer is to run Bryce, select the object(s) to send, then from the menu bar select File > "Send to DAZ Studio". This will send it using the bridge.
However, there are a lot of potential issues. Not everything can be sent, some things are easier or tricker to send than others, materials aren't directly compatible between the two applications although an attempt to approximate them will be made, object export and import might be a better/worse alternative in some cases. I would give this a test run before doing any real work, render the results, see what happened, then post to the Bryce forum with specific questions so we can help and step you through it in more detail.
You type too quick for me Sean, I typed out a whole set of instructions, and luckily I just checked to see if anyone had responded before I duplicated the effort. :coolsmirk:
@edifex, in addition to the information Sean has already given you, you will still need to do the following in order to access the Ivy Castle from within Bryce:
Click on the little right arrow next to Create at the top of the Bryce workspace, and then at the bottom left of the dialog box that opens up, click the little down arrow next to the word Installed and choose User. Then click on Import under the empty black boxes, and browse to the folder where you installed the Ivy Castle obp file(s) and select it/them to import into Bryce.
Each time you do that, you should see the obp thumnail(s) show up in the top row of the black boxes. Clicking on the newly imported Ivy Castle, and then clicking on the check mark in the bottom right corner of the dialog box will add it to your scene.
Miss B, all my .obp objects (that I placed in folders within the objects presets folder) appear to be seen automatically by Bryce without me needing to import anything. However now that you mention it I vaguely recall doing the import thing many years ago. Does it depend on which version of Bryce you are running, or is there perhaps something else I did to get it to happen automatically?
Ya know Sean, I got into 3D with Bryce 4 back in the day (circa 2000-2001), but I haven't used it since ver. 5. Back then I learned to do it the way I mentioned in my post above, but I just installed something else the way you mentioned, and sure enough it does work. In fact, it's nice because you can name it while you're at it, instead of having to stick with User. It's also nice, because you don't have to have duplicate files on your system.
Thanks for the tip. I guess an old dog CAN learn new tricks. :coolsmirk:
You can make new folders within your Object presets, even when using the import within Bryce.
Ahh yes, of course, though I usually do it under User rather than Installed so I can keep track of what "I" installed rather than what came installed with the Bryce installation package.
