How to save an entire "character"?

AabacusAabacus Posts: 407

I've been creating the characters for my D&D game then saving them so that I can start a new scene and just pull the character in.

I load up the character, add their wardrobe, add anything else (sword, etc.) then save them as a Character Preset and a Wearable Preset.

Then, when I'm ready for them, I load the character then I load the wearable that's associated.

To date this is working but it seems we should be able to save both as one.

Is there a better workflow I can use for this use case?

Okay if not, as I say, I have something that works, just trying to reduce clicks.

Thanks in advance!

There isn't a preset type that will do this, at least without fiddling (you could, I think, expand the script that handles eyelashes and brows to include other fitted items). Most people use Scene Subsets, which will merge into the current scene when double-clicked.

    Hi Aabacus,

I have the same use-case as you.

I initiatly saved the character (all clothing & stuff etc) as a scene and use the merge option to load only the charater into the scene, then pose them.

    Best regards,

Maybe scene subset is what I need! I see someone else does a scene merge. I'll experiment. Those were my next steps but it seemed like there was too big of a leap from "save person" to  "save scene"

Yeah I save them as a scene subset, just make sure you only click the boxes of the items you want saved this way. It seems to load much faster this way than if they are saved as a scene then merged in later for some reason.

Unsure if this is what you are asking -

Create your character with the entire wardrobe and accdessories you want. Save it. Make your scene. Open the character with outfit and props you created earier and choose merge into sceen instead of open as a new scene.
